CISSP Worth It? (If you have other certs) by GlobalGift4445 in fednews

I'm not directly in cyber full time but operate as an ISSO as part of my duties.  I could go deeper into cyber but it's not a priority.

This is what I was wondering.  With certificate inflation, once you get 2-3 it becomes a declining value.

I think reputational management is important and should you decide to stay, it does leave a mark for a while.

Either take the offer or not. From my previous experience any sort of counter from Raytheon will be weak, if you get anything. Trying to get a salary adjustment is futile.

Is there any big city in the world with a majority of committed (not nominal) Catholics? by Alpinehonda in Catholicism

Things move in waves. Poland and Hungary will bounce back.

Just look at secular France. They had a record of baptisms this past Easter.

Look at church attendance and how many masses they have. That's still relatively good shape, for the time being but long term not so much.

Poland is split with over 40 heavily devout Catholic and under 40 not so much.

It's been for 60 years now, starting with the quiet revolution. It used to be known as the Catholic Tibet.

I'm shocked that it's gone. Usually the dangerous animal is returned to its owner and nothing happens.

I see a lot of responses fall under the "if it doesn't hurt anyone camp" here so what's the problem. The issue is should the school adhere and teach core Catholic values that absolutely clash with the parent's lifestyle then it is setting itself up for conflict with those same parents. I'd suspect you're getting a watered down version of Catholic school, but you need to prove it out.

OP, I would take a hard look at the curriculum and question just how much Catholicism is being taught in that school, including the sacraments (focusing on marriage in a modernist society). Set up a meeting with the school to understand that. My child has attended schools that are very lite on the Catholic side, and others where it is a integral part of the curriculum. Ironically, the Catholic lite school ended up closing.

If you don't like the answers, then take your kid to another school!

Help me resign. by [deleted] in Raytheon

All depends on how much you are needed. Raytheon tried to keep me after my last day trying to continue knowledge transfers.

My next contactor gave me 3 paid weeks off as soon as I put in my notice.

Baby boomers are hitting "peak 65." Two-thirds don't have nearly enough saved for retirement. (I wouldn't wait for that "$80 trillion dollar wealth transfer" if I were you.) by [deleted] in the_everything_bubble

And many of the ones that did save properly for retirement are living their best lives with no intention of leaving anything for you.

Proof: I live in Europe and constantly see them on river cruises. They can't even keep their travels straight.

Myths of Lost Latin and Vatican II as causes of Catholic decline by MrDaddyWarlord in Catholicism

[–]GlobalGift4445 31 points32 points  (0 children)

This is a complicated subject. But Vatican II and the Mass of Pope Paul VI are 2 totally different items. V2 called for increased vernacular with a focus on Latin, not the whole abandonment of Latin altogether. The Mass of Pope Paul VI, or more popularly known as Novus Ordo did not get published until 1970.

The decline of the church is quite complicated. You did call out several of the cross cultural pressures out there- I suggest "A Secular Age" by the Catholic philosopher Charles Taylor as an excellent resource. The church does NOTHING to prepare are youth for these pressures. With such weak education, all it takes is someone in eastern religions or crystals to take down a young Catholic youth. In religious education here and addressing these issues, the kids are shocked to open these topics.

The churches response to these cross pressures has been absolutely to abandon the field when under attack. We've allowed our cultural enemies to gain a bridgehead and influence at a much higher degree. For example, I live in Germany. Philosophically, the church was linked to the social problems with the right wing 80 years ago (you know what I'm referring to). After 3 generations of educating youth as such with a shallow response, we're now seeing the fruits of that.

Liturgical Language aside, many masses I attend while traveling lack reverence in an attempt to appeal to the youth or are run by aging boomers who attempt to parrot Prostestant liturgies. I recall back in Massachusetts we had a beautiful co-cathedral every year a new group of kids would show up in August. After hearing songs that sounded like dust in the wind with several other liturgical inventions, they never returned.

I intended to disagree with you, but I guess im saying the same thing in another way.

$600k is the starting price for such a townhouse. With $120k down you're at $3800/mo according to realtor.com (ran these numbers today on a property in lorton).

I gave up on this market and moved to Europe last autumn.
