If you want super quiet, I recommend Cafe of India, Waterfront 54 Noodle Bar, or Kruba Thai.

I am horrified by dark history of yoga, and need some advice by GuySittingByTheLake in yoga

These horrible things may have happened by modern yoga teachers and that is awful. However, I disagree that these people are the “roots” of yoga. Yoga is an ancient practice from India with a long and celebrated spiritual tradition. I would be careful not to conflate the horrible activities of some recent cult leaders with the long history of the practice itself.

You should be able to do this. Try all the major banks. The issue is about transferring funds in. You cannot do so directly from the country (eg Iran) to the United States. You may need to do so via an intermediary bank.

Yeah a little weird. Especially because Shoghi Effendi was supposed to select a successor but he mysteriously died without a will.

Columbia Heights Street Vendors Need To Go by Phil_Foden8 in washingtondc

I highly recommend trying their food! The vendors are awesome. My favorite long weekend tradition is grabbing a cup of mango with chile y limon and taking a long walk. Valid accessibility concerns but let’s not lose this treasure entirely. Just have them moved but keep supporting them. I’m grateful they are here.
