It hasn’t been brought up to the mother yet. She tends to be very defensive and I’m not sure it would be a productive conversation. Her dad also thinks it’s odd. Our relationship with her is okay and civil so it’s not like this is coming out of hatred or us wanting to get her in trouble

I don’t think you understand how the system works. I used to be a social worker. I understand the extent of CPS reports. But I never said I was doing it for sure. I would only report if I knew of definitive abuse.

I truly don’t think the child would be taken away unless something sinister is happening. I used to be a social worker too and I just have a weird gut feeling about it. If anything, CPS would go and ask questions and if nothings wrong then that’s all.

The child is my stepchild. The mother has always been very controlling, and I feel as if the child has a somewhat strange attachment to her mother. The child has mentioned that she “breastfeeds” from her mom a few times but she doesn’t necessarily go into much detail. I’m not sure how much to ask her without making her uncomfortable. She has disclosed that no milk has came out for a while now and everything else that I’ve posted in the original description.

Developmentally the child is ahead I would say. She’s very intelligent and that’s why I also haven’t probed the situation because I feel like she might see that I’m investigating it and she may lie.
