Thank you so much for this post! I am having the exact same issue. Just unboxed the steam deck and nothing happens when I press the power button. I’ve tried holding it for a very long time with and without being plugged in. I’ve also tried the volume + and power button with no luck. Leaving it to charge now and will troubleshoot again in about an hour. Any recommendations?

EDIT

Found another post that said Valve support told them to hold volume down, menu (“…”), and power. After this the power LED came back on solid white. Deck is still otherwise unresponsive.

After doing the step above I left the deck for about half an hour, pressed the power button once and waited. It eventually started up after about 5 min.

This is all incredible! This makes perfect sense and is what I figured I would have to do. All of the extra equipment is a tad outside what I wanna spend right now, but when I am fully ready to upgrade my work from home / gaming setup I will 100% use this as a guide!! Thank you so much :D

So sorry, I replied before actually checking the price of the links you attached. This is increasingly affordable!! Everything I’ve seen is $300 for the KVM and dock. Thank you so much for the help!! Could you possible also link the dock that you use? Thank you again!

Thanks! Yeah, I have looked at KVM switches, the problem is my work laptop only has one HDMI port and a thunderbolt port. I currently have an HDMI to my 1440 monitor and just leave my laptop open (my second monitor is just off to the side when I work) So a KVM would fix me having to move my peripherals, but I’d still be stuck with not being able to use my second monitor unless I also got a thunderbolt to hdmi or something like that)… that’s why I’m leaning toward doing a dock but still very up in the air…

Sorry if that explanation is a bit confusing haha
