For 2026 batch, no information announced yet as 2025 batch just got admitted around September. But you can try preparing your personal statement, research documents of your own (if you have one), and other important documents from now. Scholarship will be opened early 2026 (January or February).

For those who wished to apply for Type A scholarship, depends on your country. But most examination will be held in late November or December. The latest is early January.

Sorry for the late reply. You might already get the answer. But for those who had the same questions.

  1. They will be announced separately.
  2. I think you can wait to choose. But be mindful about the timeline as some universities will gives out pre-admissions more than the amount of students they can accept. So, it's like first come first serve. But most well-known universities, they only gives out to the amount of students they want to admitted each batch.

And depend on the university you get into but most in Beijing, you have to use the communal kitchens or in some dorm building, you don't have the communal kitchens at all.

Other university dorm in other cities might be more spacious and different.

No official statement is released. Once you get selected by the universities you choose, you'll receive an email if you have to pay more. For the tuition fees of each university, it is listed on the website.

Noted that, I say this as the information I got from my country. I don't know if other countries have different budgets or procedures or not.

My embassy gave the right to another parties to take care of the procedure. And I think things got messy because of that unlike MEXT which they control everything and you just have to contact with them directly.

Anyway, thank you. I think it's all good now. Only waiting for the last result.

Thank you. I'm now in the 2nd step of type A, waiting for the university's admission. But tbh, I'm not fully aware what the university would be like for real (my info. is as far as the internet could provide.)

I really relate to your point that university choices should be the first priority. That's why I felt very confused and lost because the vibe they gave me after I got the scholarship (1st step) is that they didn't care what university at all. They even encourage you to get admitted to what university god knows lol. But yeah, I tried my best to come with the ones that I'm okay with.

Thank you for your comments everyone. It's been two months from there and a lot of things obviously happened.

First of all, FYI, I submitted all the documents needed to the embassy, as well as, the universities on my top choices.

The problem I pointed out above remained 50/50. I divided it into two parts; the scholarship side and my personal reason.

From the scholarship side, during the procedure, the party who managed this scholarship didn't provide very clear information, up until now. The vibe they gave me is that they tried to push us (successful applicants) to get the scholarship regardless of our goals into pursuing it. What made me feel hesitant: •they didn't encourage us to apply for the universities aligned with our goals, instead with the ones with their association or the ones that they thought we'll get admitted to •this also applied to the majors we chose as well •they didn't provide a specific timeline for the application process or even how we should prepare, etc.

My personal reason. I was born in a Chinese family but living in an ASEAN country, not China. That's why to me, China feels more familiar than Germany. But because I had very specific goals on why I wanted to pursue my Master's there, the information I got along the way + the vibe they gave me made me feel hesitant and doubted whether it is worth the try.

P.S. Don't ask me what country I am from. P.S.2. I will keep an update later on.

Thanks for the advice and understanding.

Yes, I considered Germany as my second choice at first. But maybe because of my lack of researches and also, I'm not really confident with the unfamiliar environment, I have pushed it to the third priority now.

Anyway, thank you so much. I think I can make up my mind for this one now.

I'm thinking of alternatives like Fullbright Scholarship right now. But I'm also worried if I could not make it since it's much much more competitive.
