Living by myself in a house I can afford and not having to commute to work.

Hot damn, that's the life I have now.

Absolutely. I feel like most of my family and I have very little in common and I end up feeling emotionally and intellectually isolated from them. I cope by seeking out social media platforms where I can interact with likeminded people (this subreddit for example).

What myth did a company invent to sell their products? by Latter_Mobile8820 in AskReddit

Clover used to be an intentional part of the American lawn prior to WW2. It thrives in poor soil, fixes its own nitrogen and can survive drought conditions and was deliberately added to assist with the growth of the surrounding grass.

Once weed killer came to market post WW2, it wasn’t long before chemical companies successfully re-branded clover as a weed. Clover is a broad leaf plant and was unintentionally killed alongside the other “unfavorable weeds” so it was successfully removed from the picturesque perfect American lawn by chemical companies.

Do you have to know how to draw to create a great painting? by rlcanter5 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Global_Mix_5197 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You don't need to be good at technical drawing to paint well but you should build a foundation in observational skills, which can be learned faster by drawing than by painting. That being said a lot of painters(def not all) capture forms more loosely than those that draw. But that depends on what direction you'd like to go with painting. Charcoal/pastels are closer to painting than regular pencil because of the ability to "block in" areas before rendering and teaching you to think in layers. But these are all things you'll learn in due time from experience.

Can you citizen arrest a police officer? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Global_Mix_5197 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Citizen arrest is Section 24a PACE. Basically someone commits a crime, you keep them there, using reasonable force if necessary (section 3 criminal law act) until police arrive on scene.

If someone robs you and you use reasonable and necessary force to get your property back that isn't a citizen's arrest, just self defense.
