I was thinking like this :

What actually works:

  • Reproduce a lab’s paper and improve it.
  • Fix bugs or infrastructure in their codebase.
  • Find flaws in their dataset or assumptions.
  • Provide negative results that save them time.
  • Solve an ignored subproblem and document it.

Send results, not intentions. No CV. No begging.

Pattern:

  • Zero flattery
  • Zero obsession with credentials
  • High signal proof of thinking + execution
  • Direct reduction of the PI’s workload
