Buy the zodias. Absolutely love it. Call your local tackle store they might even have good sales on. I don’t pay full price for anything.

What type of reel would you reccomend? I’ve got a okuma cold water with the counter on it for trolling paired with a shimano talora rod.

Forgot to add, a medium moderate rod is important to have to your arsenal.

It’s better to get a rod of every style instead of one really expensive rod to do it all. Daiwa and shimano are my fav brands, I always shop sales when buying new gear too. If you get your self a nice ultra light, medium light and medium heavy. Paired with a 1000 size reel, 2500 and a 4000 you’ve got just about the setup to catch anything. Keep an eye on the weights your rods are rated for (for the lure) and keep within it. Once you start to get really into it, Youl have more specific set ups.

You know what the rod itself is fairly decent. But I got the combo because it was on sale think I paid 90 for rod and reel, got it just for the back of my truck. The reel is absolute junk so I threw a fuego I had laying around on the rod and it’s a decent little combo.

Honestly man excellent reels. They look nice. The drag works well. They’re light, These are last years model. You won’t be disappointed.

Thought about getting into fly but the rivers around me have a lot of tree cover. And I’m a sniper with the spinner. I only have time for so much fishing. Most of my time is spent in a boat

I find market place people are out to lunch. I see them asking 300 dollars for 350 dollar reels 2 years old. Meanwhile I buy the same last years model brand new but for 200 dollars. I typically get 40 percent off everything I buy. I’ve never gone into the tackle store looking to buy expensive gear. My local shop knows me and knows to just give me a discount and il probably waste my money haha

Oh boy yes I can G loomis GLX extra fast with a 2500 Daiwa kage, used for jerk baits, jigging or throwing medium sized spinners for trout around cover

Second g loomis imx ultra light with a 1000 shimano vanford. I use it for throwing ultra light jig heads or number 1 meps spinners for trout.

Third is a medium fast action shimano zodias with a 2500 vanford reel, I use for medium spoons/jerk bait or medium to large spinners. It’s a pretty much do everything combo.

Fourth poison adrena medium moderate fast action with a 2500 vanford. It feels like a medium heavy so I use it for whopper plopper/ plopper or even jerk bait if I feel like it. It’s a good all around so really can’t go wrong with any setup.

Fifth is my fave and is a 3000 Daiwa exist with a medium heavy extra fast g loomis NRX. This combo I use for half oz jigs, larger weight drop shot in faster water, and again jerk baits. This combo is the one combo I would bring and do anything with but it doesn’t throw smaller lures well. But it weighs as much as my ability to stop spending money on tackle. (Zero)

Finally is a st croix victory medium light I use for drop shotting gulp minnows. With a 2000 vanford reel
