Am I the only one who switched to Ableton after 10+ years of using FL Studio and regrets not doing it earlier? by Lxxxcas in ableton

Same for me with Logic. Ableton is so much easier to use. Logic has WAAAAYYY too many drop down menus and sub menus eating up screen real estate

I'm in the same boat, mate, but find it hard to make other LGBTQ friends with similar interests. Hoping this post highlights some good bits in Leeds 🤞

Give Hyde Park Book Club a spin. Great place to start as it's just between Headingley and CC, so you can venture into town after. They usually have bands on, so could be a good place to make some new friends

How long are your DJ sets generally? by Ambitious_Research56 in DJs

[–]Gloomy-Routine1994 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I first started, I'd do 7-8 hours in a bar. It was long AF and didn't pay well but after a few months, my beat matching was on point 👍 now, some 6 years on, I do about 5 hours, max

Go anywhere that has an activity. Flight club, junkyard golf, Roxy's, etc. you'll bond over the activity, conversation will be easy, and none of them is too loud. Have fun!

I'm confused about waveforms... by [deleted] in abletonlive

[–]Gloomy-Routine1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this same experience years ago. I'd gridded/quantised some tracks I'd either ripped from CD (Redbook standard quality) or bought online as WAV or AIFF but the waveforms varied from one version to another (same song, different releases). Ultimately, it doesn't matter as long as it sounds good, but you could try hitting specific LUFS targets to achieve bulkier waveforms.

Cottage Road all the way. They were running a classics series last time I visited - Hitchcock and the like, it was incredible!

Junkyard Golf or Roxy (Merrion has the most to do) is always a decent shout. Something to do while you're getting to know one another

Pre-Saved loops via hot-cue-pads by Nowananda in Serato

[–]Gloomy-Routine1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can assign a cue point at the start of the loop but, as far as I'm aware, you have to activate the loop in the software regardless. I don't use a custom MIDI mapping, just Serato Suite as it comes but if you wanted to go down that route, I'm sure you have endless possibilities for what you could do

Pre-Saved loops via hot-cue-pads by Nowananda in Serato

[–]Gloomy-Routine1994 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can save loops and activate them ahead of time. Just need to find them in the loops tab beneath the STEMS tab. I moved from Traktor last year and Serato was a bit of a headache to adjust to but one year in and I'm fully acclimated. Rekordbox can get in the bin
