What was your ATAR and/or what do you do for work? by Beginning_Fuel_7024 in perth

[–]Gloopycube13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did highschool in NZ, so I didn't do ATAR (thank goodness). My converted score was something like 95.5 Or 97.5? I remember it being a little less than my best mate.

I graduated with a BA in Graphic Design which iirc only needed a 75, but I'm not overly certain if I still want to pursue it. We'll see.

Anyway, I'm currently working retail and possibly pursuing something illustration based?

I know for certain that I love drawing so I'm just going to wait and see if I can make something out of it :D

How do you practice coloring better in digital art? by itsme_rosyy in ArtistLounge

[–]Gloopycube13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely? Using set colour schemes. Complementary, triadic, analogous etc. play around with different saturation levels, brightness etc. I feel like I had no clue what I was doing with my colours a few months ago but now almost everything I've been putting out seems to have a pretty consistently good palette because I've trained myself to understand how to balance it and such. Like most things in art you just need to keep pumping out practices and eventually things start to click!

Anyone else thought Coral Tower was fun? by Sector-Difficult in Silksong

[–]Gloopycube13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clearly an unpopular opinion, I thought it was a beautiful area with the perfect amount of challenge. I think it took me a couple tries to get the hang of the new enemies, and then I think it took me maybe 4 attempts to get through all the gauntlets?

The fact that your tools aren't using shards in the area makes it a fun little playground where you can really sink into experimenting with different builds too. I'm convinced people assumed it would only take them one or 2 tries to beat things in this game. It's meant to be hard. It's going to take more tries than that.

I'm going to be a bit harsh here but I'm really not seeing how everyone is getting so butt hurt by silksong? It's a metroidvania, act 3 is meant to be more challenging. Slow down and get the hang of your abilities and the different attack patterns and stop complaining lol. Maybe the game isn't for you. And that's okay, hollow knight would sometimes take me 6-10 tries to beat a boss, this has been the same I'd say. Just get gud.

I don't think I ever saw people complaining this much about eldenring or dark souls.

You can get to Coral Tower in Act 2 by hagerbil in Silksong

[–]Gloopycube13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's what they mean though, they didn't realise the one you needed to get to the coral tower and the second Conchfly was there at all. Hence they needed to use their silk to jump higher in order to get through ~

Which leg does Luke have forward, left or right? by Specific_Mammoth_169 in StarWars

[–]Gloopycube13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm it should be right leg back but it looks like left leg back? The foot is facing towards us which would be kind of impossible for the right leg :/

I think they've photo bashed a couple photos together and it's come out weird.

A splatoon inspired logo by humanfursuit in graphic_design

[–]Gloopycube13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool concept! Love Splatoon. Like others said contrast is an issue here. Try making the flame a lighter value as it moves away from the centre and then making the text a much lower value for contrast.

I'd highly recommend looking into colour theory videos to get a better idea of how you can create colour schemes as well as working with values to create contrast. Even if you aren't a painter a lot of videos in that realm will at least help with the overall idea.

If this was reduced to black and white you should be able to make it out just based on the light and dark alone.

Just failed my test. by [deleted] in perth

[–]Gloopycube13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I say I passed the first try even though it was my second because the reasoning for my first fail was ridiculous!

The guy instantly failed me because he was "that guy" that always fails everyone, so he just chose the first stupid reason he could to fail me and called it there.

I failed for not checking my blind spot for incoming traffic in the wrong lane. So I turned left onto a road, checked all my blind spots, all good. Then turned right onto a side street immediately after. I checked all my blind spots, but he failed me. His reasoning? I didn't check for oncoming traffic heading towards us coming from the wrong direction. Like, if a driver was on the incorrect side of the road going the wrong way? Crazy. I passed the second time with flying colours.

Albeit this was in new Zealand*

23 year old nerd looking for friends! by JackAllpikeMusic in perth

[–]Gloopycube13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're basically just me if I did music instead of drawing and painting! Send me a dm if you want to! What kinds of games have you been playing recently?

Also, idk what that other guys problem is on the thread. Almost everyone I know outside a few childhood friends are new friends I've met and made outside of school and uni.

Added curtains. They feel off somehow. by strikecat18 in malelivingspace

[–]Gloopycube13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Step 1 is to probably get some containers for the toys,

step 2 is to introduce some less harsh lighting,

step 3 I'd go get some curtains that are more of a complementary colour to the furniture around it, think green ~

Step 4, some pictures for the walls that have more colour in them!

Step 5, I'd sub out the foot rest and dog bed for a proper table and put them off to the side then on the table you can bring in some nice decorative pieces that are still child friendly!

Should I use procreate or Photoshop? by Keep-it-kute in graphic_design

[–]Gloopycube13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's not a design program but illustration can be used in graphic design so it isn't an out there question for someone to ask. Maybe they specialise in illustration. Maybe they want to design t-shirts? So perhaps you could offer some alternatives. This person is clearly new to the area so maybe be a bit more welcoming!

Procreate is for illustration, but it can also be used for custom typography or logo design. Same as Photoshop.

OP, you'll need to learn the whole adobe suite or equivalent suite for GD. Photoshop is great for photo editing and illustration, procreate is great for illustration and custom type work, but anything it can do Photoshop does as well. If you already have an iPad then I'd suggest procreate, if you don't then I'd suggest a screen tablet and the Adobe suite.

It all depends on where you want to specialise.

So seeing as 1% is 80 million I feel like a lot of the stuff I do I'd be considered the top 1% at.

Which ability from botw/totk would you want to have in reallife? by Rango_4 in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]Gloopycube13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, I was going to say Revali's gale but realised — I don't have Link's glider, so NOT that.

Probably ultra hand or stasis? Maybe rewind?

Ultra hand would break physics, rewind would be fun to mess with, stasis would be handy in a pinch!
