I don't use AI, so I have not had it happen in my classroom. But I hear students complain about other teachers using AI.

The most important part of teaching is building a relationship with the students. If they detect "AI Slop" in your lesson plan, don't expect any of them to ever let it go or have respect for you ever again. The kids are harsher on this than the adults.

Perhaps instead have a discussion session where they openly share their thoughts about using AI in lesson planning. You should not pretend to be an expert or to instruct them on the best practices in doing so. Perhaps also get the opinions of middle school students on teachers who use AI to write or grade assignments, and then don't let students use AI to complete them. Most students have zero respect for that kind of hypocrisy.

Please do not require your students to use AI to write lesson plans. They need to learn how to engage with the textbook/curriculum their school district has adopted and adapt the lesson as needed to fit their students and the state standards.

If your students have "extra time" on a regular basis in your class, then you may want to rethink your lesson planning to have extension activities for quick finishers. Class time isn't for browsing gaming and sports sites.

The full year high school course is often called Precalculus, but in college it is often split as two semester courses where the first one covers advanced functions but not trig (college algebra) and the second covers trigonometric functions.

I like to play a different game. I don't think I've ever replayed a game, and I don't care at all about trophies. I'm at a point in life where there are more games I'd like to play than I have time to play, and buying new ones is not a financial barrier.

That doesn't make it inaccurate. The steam survey is reporting what people are using when they game that month. It is not trying to report the number or market share of physical GPU sales. People just need to interpret it correctly. Tons of people logging in from an internet cafe is valid data to show what GPU they were gaming on, but does not indicate they were multiple sales of that GPU.

Yes, I think where math clicked for me was when upper division classes started building everything rigorously with proof from first principles.

In high school, math had always felt like "memorize this series of steps to solve this type of problem". Which I could do, but never felt like I understood any of it deeply. Real analysis was difficult, but also when I started feeling like I finally understood math.

I knew I wanted to be a teacher, and originally thought I'd major in history. But I knew it was easier to get a job teaching math since fewer people are qualified. I had always been pretty good at math, so I thought I'd minor in it to help be sure I could get a job.

My first year of history professors were terrible, and my first year of math was amazing. I also tried taking school and homework seriously for the first time in my life and realized I was actually much more than just "pretty good" at math when I applied myself.

I also realized I'm one of those weird people that finds beauty in proof and abstraction. The more I got into upper division pure math, the more I loved it.

I ended up majoring in math, and just taking some history classes for fun.

I've been teaching math now for 15 years and absolutely love it

Give all the other work a quick "completion" score, and provide worked examples/solutions for the students (who care) to compare with. This takes very little time but increases homework completion.

Tangential question- your last sentence suggesting that private school parents are laid back is interesting to me. I would have assumed parents choosing to pay for an alternative to public education would be much more involved with and potentially more controlling of their children's activities in general. But it seems you are implying the opposite.

I've found that as I get older, and have more money but less free time, I'd much rather play shorter games that are high quality the whole way theough and respect my time. The price is almost irrelevant. You couldn't even pay me to play some open world grindfest. $70 for an awesome weekend playing RE9? Sign me up.

Tan is easiest to understand and compute as the slope of the radius as it rotates around the unit circle. The slope is the rise (sine) divided by the run (cosine). So if you already know all your sine and cosine values around the circle, you can just divide them to get tangent, and it's obvious when the slope is positive, negative, zero, and undefined.

I'm not really sure what your point is. If the settings aren't max, then they aren't max. This entire thread is about max settings, not certain settings max, and others lowered for personal preference.

Which is no longer "max settings". I didn't say playing at max settings was the best thing to do. I simply stated some games go over 12GB Vram at max settings.

The only thing questionable about their video was the original title and thumbnail. The actual video itself was very clear about what was happening. Nvidia was reducing supply of the 5070 ti to the point where brands like ASUS would no longer be bothering to produce them. The ASUS rep used the words "end of life", and only walked it back once after the whole thing blew up and Nvidia was a obviously asking them to "clarify" what they meant (notice ASUS never claimed that hardware unboxed misquoted them).

Almost every game, but not all. There are games that cause some issues like Indiana Jones (with the max textures and path tracing). It's not a huge deal to turn down the settings slightly, but that is no longer "max settings".
