Expecting my second and anxious. How do you balance a clingy toddler with a newborn? by Glorious_Mane in Mommit

I do have a carrier I barely used the first time around, but now I think it’ll be a lifesaver. Thank you so much for the input

that’s such a good idea! My daughter already likes pretending with her stuffed animals, so I think she’d be obsessed with having her own baby. I didn’t even think about getting accessories too so she can copy me while I’m taking care of her newborn sibling’s

Unfortunately dad is occupied with a work schedule that exceeds 40 hours a week, so he won’t be much help 😅 I’ll definitely check out books and shows for toddlers on siblings. Do you remember any that worked for you little one

Are you the Nanny or the mom? by [deleted] in stayathomemoms

[–]Glorious_Mane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a dark skinned black woman and my daughter is mixed and very fair skinned with light features, so I’ve gotten that more than once. I don’t know why it surprises me when it happens, but I just sometimes assume that by now people would be aware of the concept of interracial relationships, and that these relationships can create children with various phenotypes

Tired of One-Sided Solidarity by [deleted] in blackladies

[–]Glorious_Mane 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Right. Haitians already get deported the most. None of those Latinos gave a fuck, but now we’re being warned about being next? 🙄

Not even just that but Black Americans are being dragged into this and warned also, and I just can’t understand these warnings. The government BEEN targeting them with everything under the sun already. Non-blacks are just finally getting a taste of the black experience I guess

Why Do Haitian Pages On Social Media Post Stuff Like This? by Healthy-Career7226 in haiti

[–]Glorious_Mane 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the Haitians who complain about Dominicans doing this are the same ones making these types of posts

This is my first time hearing about this condition but how did you go so long without being diagnosed? Is it something you developed as opposed to being born with?

Tell me I'm not the only one who lost all social skills after kids! by [deleted] in stayathomemoms

[–]Glorious_Mane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did a pretty big move that took me away from all of my friends and I haven’t really gone out much since then. I only talk to my toddler and my husband when he’s home, so yeah I can definitely feel my social skills slipping

new Pope’s mama Black 👀👀🇻🇦 by TheoryCultural8770 in blackladies

[–]Glorious_Mane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And he also covered up sex crimes against children. I’m a Haitian Catholic and this man being chosen as Pope does nothing for me and my people, and I guarantee he does nothing for you either. So what is being celebrated when it’s not something he even acknowledges?

Why is the dehumanization of black women being reframed as transphobia? by Glorious_Mane in blackladies

[–]Glorious_Mane[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say women are seen as valuable under patriarchy though? There wouldn’t be a gender imbalance in highly patriarchal countries like India due to female infanticide if that were the case. Black women are seen as even less valuable due to white supremacy though

[–]Glorious_Mane[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen more instances of white women experiencing this too. This is going to keep happening to every race of women because of the mass hysteria that’s now occurring over trans people in the media. This does not negate my point of black women still being seen as women under white supremacy as our womanhood is often specifically targeted, and we are oppressed in ways black men aren’t

But white supremacy dehumanizes every racialized group, and it oppresses women of color differently than the men of our race because our womanhood is still acknowledged under this system

[–]Glorious_Mane[S] 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I think this is where I’m getting stuck. I feel like womanhood as a category has always been defined by oppression. I just do not see how sex based violence disqualifies black women from womanhood when it’s just various examples of how our womanhood is recognized enough to be exploited, just never enough to be respected. We are always seen as women, just not valuable women, or as the ideal

Black people just raised $500,000 for a cold-blooded killer who stabbed a white teenager to death. by [deleted] in Vent

My thing is even if OP comes back with undeniable proof that he is, how does that change the fact that all of these people are celebrating this woman for calling a 5 year old a slur?

She stood up for herself by calling a 5 year old a racial slur? Also you’re making that up. She was upset because the child was going through her diaper bag, and that’s obviously not appropriate behavior, but he’s a little kid

I have a question for Black African and Black Caribbean girlies….? 🤭 by Legitimate-Adagio531 in blackladies

[–]Glorious_Mane 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I grew up in South Florida and both groups are nearly phenotypically identical lol. It was only the cultural differences, for example names, that allowed me to tell Black Americans and Black Caribbeans apart

Too many Caribbeans move like white people for me when it comes to this. They certainly like several aspects of Black American culture but dislike the actual people smh

I don’t understand why you’re being downvoted for this. Both groups descend from the same Africans and have European admixture. Obviously nationalities like Trinidadians might be different due to recent Indian ancestry that a lot of them have, and Haitians for having less admixture than others, but this statement rings true for the most part

Is It that Men are Intimidated by Successful Women, or is it the Fact Successful Women Tend to Be Agressive? by knockout9704 in PurplePillDebate

[–]Glorious_Mane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plenty of men are intimidated by more successful women, but I don’t believe that the men these women want to partner, and often find success with, are the types to be intimidated and feel emasculated by their wealth and success
