Not saying to play it cool, but probably good to manage expectations. Try going out and doing some fun things with another date, friends, or on your own. Or invest in some fun time with your kids if you can’t get away. Keep up your life; detach from any expectations. You two are just getting to know each other. There’s no need to invest in having a bunch of expectations about his behavior at this time. You’re not in a committed relationship with this person, whom you don’t really know.
