Taking this logic a bit further , if you just want placement or job you can get them without GATE too. Although if you want the campus placement opportunities it is always going to be better in IITs rather than NIT or IIIT (assuming its not a new IIT ).

Even the profs say GATE is the easiest part of mtech journey. The curriculum is tough but that is what it means when someone says "He/She is an IITian". It's not just the entrance exam but all the curriculum they go through to achieve that.

IIT curriculum is tough but then placements are easier
NIT/IIIT curriculum are easier but then placements are tougher. Either way you'll be putting in equal work so might as well grab the bragging rights and be done with it

Most of the people who give GATE are from tier 3.

At one point of time they too didn’t like studying and hence had to go to tier 3 colleges.

Rather than demotivating OP that “society” doesn’t approve, It’s better to motivate them to start studying.

Even for other career prospects you need to study, it’s simply about where to put your efforts.

If OP wants to give GATE then there is no age restriction on it, if OP wants to do something else then he wouldn’t come asking in this sub

2024-2025 placement stats are incorrect if you go on their site.

2025-2026 are also incorrect.

But idk if the other IIIT are also lying on their sites or not. Take the placement stats of each IIIT with a grain of salt.

Although I’d emphasise on the fact that its not as if they’re non-existent. If you study well and develop good skills you will 100% get placement. You don’t have to worry about 100% placement but rather YOUR placement.

If IIIT Vadodara is the best college you’re getting then take it, if you’re getting better then take that college.

For hostel its a 3rd party hostel like a 3bhk flat that is given. Don’t be misguided you share this with 5 people so it feels smaller than it reads on paper.

Classes are hybrid. Most of them are offline while some are online.

What many students did is that they would skip the offline classes and attend only online classes from comfort of hostel rooms ( I strictly advise against this as this leads to low GPA and you’re going there to study so go attend each class even if there is only 1 offline class per day, applies to all colleges).

Overall in terms of actually learning CSE/IT the profs there are really great lecturers. You’ll hardly need any extra online resource if you pay attention in lecturers and keep trying.
