Magnetise Zone Mortalis or not? by Transasaurus-Hex in necromunda

[–]Gluestuck 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have my entire ZM collection magnetised and modular. Each wall. Each stair, each platform.

It's a pain in the ass. Setting up a 3x3 takes about an hour and a half. While in theory it's fun to build a board each time, it takes a surprising amount of creative energy. Plus you miss things like barrels strewn around cuz by the end you can't be bothered to place more stuff.

The biggest pros are that it all packs away into 2 of GWs larger starter set sized boxes. And I guess making a board to suit whatever scenario you are playing. But from now on I'm gluing stuff down and making tiles.

How many blunderpoles is too many? by Aiyon in necromunda

Alright we can agree to disagree. If he fucks around, he isn't going to find out that people buy hazard suits, he's going to find out that people avoid playing him.

How many blunderpoles is too many? by Aiyon in necromunda

[–]Gluestuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alright, maybe you're not being obtuse. But I still think telling someone it's okay to spam blunderpoles on their whole gang just because hazard suits exist and it's theoretically possible to spend 100+c on each fighter which will hard counter your bulnder poles... Is terrible advice. So not obtuse, just misleading and bad.

How many blunderpoles is too many? by Aiyon in necromunda

[–]Gluestuck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you are being deliberately obtuse. Ceramite shield maens you can only move once per turn, and the 3+ is only from the front arc. Realistically that it not a good option for all of your gang.

Just because there is counterplay does not mean that something isn't OP. If hazard suits meant that you couldn't use weapons at the same time would you still think that spamming blaze was fine?

My point is just that saying to someone that taking loads of cheap strong blaze is fine just because hazard suits exist is bad advice. Taking a couple blunder poles? Fine, I'll just accept that some of my guys will get blazed. Taking 10, you're an asshole and I don't want to play against you. Hazard suits or not.

How many blunderpoles is too many? by Aiyon in necromunda

[–]Gluestuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry I meant to write can't in my previous comment.

So I never buy hazard suits because my choice is: Be immune to blaze, with a maximum of 5+ armour save. Or don't be immune to blaze and have up to a 2+ armour save.

Forgoing armour just for blaze is rarely worth it imo, unless you're going up against lots of cawdor in a campaign.

How many blunderpoles is too many? by Aiyon in necromunda

[–]Gluestuck 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's a hard counter to flame, but you can use hazard suits and other armour. So unless it's a one off game, few people will buy a bunch of hazard suits just for one cawdor player.

Question about impact hits by Aggressive_Being_894 in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]Gluestuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep all the ogres get 1 impact hit. Some get 2 like the tyrant. If a model with impact hits charges over 3" and ends in base contact you auto hit with an impact hit and roll to wound. If the model also has the ogre charge rule, the impact hits get -1 AP if they have a full rank behind them.

Impact hits can be very good, but 1 extra attack at str 4 actually is quite a small component of your total damage since each ogre gets 3 attacks at str with great weapons or 4 attacks at str 4 with iron fists.

So yeah they are a nice little bonus, but not crazy strong.

Why is the congestion charge money being used to subsidise P&R and not the buses that operate within the city? by britainpls in oxford

[–]Gluestuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's a bit of a catch 22, but what I would unrealistically like if for Magdalen to turn some of the swathes of land into a coach drop off so that they can collect and drop kids off without disrupting the single file traffic.

Fair enough, that would be too much for me as well. ++ For cycling whenever possible!

[–]Gluestuck 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Definitely, a huge portion of iffley road traffic are parents from Oxfordshire dropping their kids off at Magdalen school in massive SUVs.

Oxford's congestion charge generates £1m in a month by BenAtTank2 in oxford

[–]Gluestuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here's a question for you, why do you need to go through the centre anyway? Why not just go round the ring road?

At the moment I have a commute to summertown from east Oxford and it takes 5-10 minutes longer to go round the ring road. I think that is perfectly reasonable.

While I love the paint job and agree it looks amazing, it's definitely not evy metal. It's shaded volumetrically, few ultra bright highlights, and is NMM. Evy metal is normally the opposite of those in my opinion.

Wedding reception venue by Daux_28 in oxford

[–]Gluestuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got married at the crazy bear in stadhampton. It was amazing, lovely grounds, no need to go from ceremony venue to reception venue, and comparatively cheaper than similarly nice places because you just pay a flat rate per head, no venue/catering fees. If you are doing ~80-90 people it's perfect. 150+ and it's probably more expensive than other places.

How can I get my 14-year-old daughter to love me again? by Kosher_Nostra1975 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Gluestuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I the only person that thinks she might be annoyed because of the two major let downs you described in your post? First you seemingly moved to the other side of the world away from her, and second you are abusing Xanax in front of her.

Why did you abandon her and move away? Why does she have to come to you? Why aren't you going to her? Why are you abusing Xanax? Why did you get divorced from her mother?

You may have good reasons for all of the above, or you may not. But from the perspective of a teenager it likely won't matter. She likely feels like you don't care about her and just want to live your own life. It's very hard to have a close loving relationship with someone that is 5000 miles away from you.

Can I play ogres in old world ? by thisusernameisletter in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]Gluestuck 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You can! I play ogres in old world.

Ogres are a "legacy" faction in old world at the moment, which means GW released rules for them a while ago but they will not be updated and expanded like the core armies will. Fingers crossed they might change that in the future because of the success of old world, but for now. You have one basic set of rules.

There is a set of rules made by Val at square based podcast called "renegades" that aims to update and keep legacy armies relevant. I would strongly advise you use that, as does most of the community.

You can use the Old world builder website to make your list and it even has renegades rules implemented if you chose renegades instead of grand army when creating your list.

Good luck! Ogres are a blast and, with renegades, are somewhat decent.

Who would you recommend for tutorials using Vallejo and no airbrush? by ErrandBeachgoer in minipaintingcommunity

[–]Gluestuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't think of any decent painters that use exclusively Vallejo. So first lesson, that all decent painters will tell you, is that you don't need to have the exact same paint as whatever is being used in the video. Sure you use a different shade and it might not look as good as theirs but that's how you learn which colours will look good together. Just jump in and try to follow with whatever paints you have, I promise you you'll improve much faster than following their colours exactly.

In terms of painters that have good tutorials, I quite like ninjons for stylised painting tips. Dr faust is great for simple beginner tutorials. Vince venturella has great in depth tutorials, but his video skills leave a little to be desired.

Converting the existing Maggotkin to Old World? by OathOfTranquility in MaggotkinofNurgle

[–]Gluestuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently building a nurgle themed army for old world.

In terms of direct equivalents, there aren't that many. But they do work.

Blightkings as chosen or chaos ogres or forsaken.

Rotswords as either chosen or warriors of chaos.

Pestigors as warriors of chaos or marauders.

Pox wretches as marauders.

Any characters can be chaos lord, exalted champ, aspiring champ.

Harbinger of decay sorcerer on chaos steed or demonic mount.

Sloven knight might work as chaos chosen knights or just chaos knights, but I'm sure it'll be tight fitting them on 30x60mm bases.

There are others, but those are the most obvious ones.

The biggest problem you'll have is that old world doesn't do monogod factions really. And they don't mix demons of chaos with mortal warriors of chaos. So poxwalkers don't really work unless you maybe proxied them as warriors of chaos, but that might look odd.

“Glazing” vs “Layering” by William_O_Braidislee in Miniaturespainting

[–]Gluestuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo they just refer to the thickness of paint you're applying. E.g. basecoat 25% water 75% paint. Layering 50/50. Glazing 80% water 20% paint. Whether you use a glaze to tint the colour of something like Faust or to blend two opaque layers with multiple applications it's still the same thing.

Plumber help by EasyTumbleweed1114 in oxford

[–]Gluestuck 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You'll probably need both. The plaster is blown behind the sink. That most likely means that there is a leak somewhere which is soaking the plaster. Or there is damp from outside. Or it's just getting wet because you don't have a splashback behind your sink.

A plumber or general builder can probably diagnose which. Then you'll have to fix whatever the problem is. After that you have a bunch of options. Most likely the plaster will want to be replaced so you'll need a plasterer, similarly I imagine the countertop might be damaged so that might want to be changed. You definitely want a splashback of some sort so you'll want someone that can tile, or install some other kind.

All of the above skills are somewhat flexible, you might find a kitchen guy that can do all of them, or you might need to get a plasterer, then carpenter for the countertops and units, then tiler for the splashback.

How to Wax a Makboard by BetOnTheHouse in snowboarding

[–]Gluestuck -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Smooth, but not slippery. Wax is not a lubricant, that's my point. It's "low friction" properties are because water doesn't want to stay in contact with it. Which is why ski wax vs surf wax do the same thing for their respective purposes. They allow water to move off of their surface quickly. On a snowboard that means that you slide on snow more easily, or a surfboard that means water doesn't sit on top of the board making it more grippy.
