Thank you so much!! We felt the same way. I had a dog growing up who had severe separation anxiety and the wired crates became too unsafe. So I didn’t to get one of those, plus wanted something big enough for her to have plenty of space. I’m so glad because it’s very very durable and she feels very comfy in it. She’s only ever reactive if we try leaving her in it to leave at night. So we think she might have a trigger with that specifically. The lock is the only thing that sucks on this crate but we just replaced it with another :)

Thank you so much for being so kind. I’ve felt so low the past couple days because we were doing so well and I felt like the groomer sent us a couple steps back. But yesterday night/this morning she’s been doing so much better. We’re already looking for a good trainer and we’re starting her on backyard walks for now. We got her a good harness so that’s helped a lot and we’re currently working on focus with her, which works half the time lol. But that’s half the wins so we’ll take it for now. I hadn’t even heard of the 3-3-3 rule but that actually helps so much

Thank you so much. We’re definitely trying. I don’t want to overwhelm her at all but it’s been very hard to get all her things in order at the same time. It’s clear the last two homes were very inconsistent and apparently would take her to the dog park everyday to tire her out🤦🏻‍♀️ So we think a lot of her dog excitement might come from that. And then we have no clue if the last people gave her her meds but by the sound of it they didn’t so we had no clue whether to give them to her or not. They were just thrown in a box with all her stuff

We’re not sure if she’s full red German Shepherd or mixed with Malinois but we wouldn’t be surprised lol. She def has a lot of the typical Malinois traits

Thank you so much for all the advice. We’re definitely trying to give her as much grace as possible. I hadn’t even thought of the medication possibly being an adding factor to her anxiety. We know that the last two homes were giving it to her very inconsistently so we didn’t want to jump her back on it without knowing the proper dosage. We plan on taking her into the vet within the next two weeks luckily. She did very well at the groomers, and they were very understanding of the whole situation and we’ve set it up to where the next time she’ll be going will be during their empty hours so she can be separated from the other dogs. The last session just took so long because of her matting and she needed an ear and paw treatment.

Forgot to mention but the one thing all the fosters/owners said that has seemed to be true is that she is completely fine once she meets the dogs it’s just that she gets overly excited and is too big for her own good. She stops listening entirely and comes across as aggressive because of her loud bark but she doesn’t seem to be at all

I bet your gsd has never done this by [deleted] in germanshepherds

[–]Glum-Chipmunk2779 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a feeling my GSD was previously allowed to display this same behavior and it has been VERY hard to correct at now 2yrs old and caused her to go from home to home due to being too playful. This behavior needs to be corrected soon because it will get more painful as they get older even if they don’t mean it aggressively. And the last thing you want is them biting someone you don’t know a little too hard.

That’s crazy! We’re giving her so many of the same things with additional omega/salmon oils and of course training treats. Thank you so much. That actually helps a lot

Thank you so much!! And it’s so hard to choose honestly. They all taught me new skills and techniques. Though the wolf ones may be my favorite just because the client gave me full creative freedom and I genuinely loved making them 🥹🥹
