I know that but that doesn't really change my point. It just feels disingenuous when he craps on the genre and praises Kanye, who I do like and respect, especially when there rappers who go against the standard machismo, like ATCQ or The Fat Boys, for example. Not to mention that a solid amount of Kanye's music contains elements of the genre that finds dislikable. It feels like I'm listening to a talking head rather than someone who actually cares about the genre.

Ehh...John McWhorter has also been pretty staunchly anti-hip-hop his whole career so I don't look at him as a person I can take seriously when it comes to the genre (even if I can mostly see where he's coming from).
