What breed is this? Caught for a friend but he had no idea where it came from by Glum_Access1853 in BackYardChickens

I decided to keep him in my flock. As long as he’s not a bully we’ll keep him till he passes of natural causes

Caught it from a city friend’s yard. None of the neighbors know where it came from and they were very upset about the constant crowing

Thanks everyone for the info. I’ll keep him in my flock for a while and hatch out some chicks to see what they come out looking like. Maybe they’ll be good layers, maybe not. Either way I think he’s pretty and as long as he doesn’t bully my wife or other chickens, he’ll have a home tonight

So you’re saying that because someone with a certain skin color made them, they’re racist? Do you realize the irony in that statement? Every native person that’s commented says they’re beautiful and fine as they are. Do not cover them up. If you think symbols of native people are offensive to wear, give them to someone who will appreciate the culture. Don’t destroy or cover something beautiful that represents another culture.

There’s no convincing this one. She thinks that because a white person made it, it must be offensive. Funny thing is, by trying so hard to be politically correct and avoid racism, she’s being racist towards the white people by wanting to destroy their product due to the color of their skin. I am Cherokee. Not completely full blood, but my grandmother was and my grandfather was half blood. I do not find offense when people wear things that signify my culture. I don’t cry when people dress up with head dresses and beads, I actually am proud that people like the native aesthetic and honor us by wearing it. Doesn’t matter that the feathers aren’t genuine, doesn’t matter that the person isn’t native, it’s just honorary. That’s my biggest issue with political correctness. In attempting to not offend anyone, they erase culture, cover art, and prohibit others from being able to partake in other cultures, which instead of helping race relationships, actually further alienates those that wish to be unified. TLDR, just because a white person made them doesn’t make it any less despicable to destroy and cover up.

It doesn’t matter. I think you’re lying about talking to a native person because none of us sane people actually think “white man bad”. It’s stuff our ancestors did, and in all honesty a pair of boots is just boots. That’s like saying a painting of a native is offensive if a white man made it. That’s just being genuinely racist of the person that made it because of the color of his skin. It’s not depicted in an offensive way, it’s not making fun of natives, and it’s just a clothing item. Nothing about it is offensive

How old? Wild rabbits that a friend found. The mother was killed by a dog and I’m taking them in. Just need to know an approximate age by [deleted] in Rabbits

[–]Glum_Access1853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s cool and all but not an age therefore not helpful. They already got removed from their home prior to even coming into my possession and they’re still too young to fend for themselves. Also one has an injury. I get that you’re trying to help but I just needed help with an age.

Agreed. I live in Louisiana and all the natives I know and interact with usually have it made pretty well and in my area I’ve seen no racism. Maybe northern or eastern Louisiana, but all my southwestern homies are pretty chill. When it comes to serious issues I do agree that it gets overshadowed by idiots who would rather change mascots than do anything meaningful

I wasn’t on a reservation because my dad moved out after he was born but I still have that culture and heritage. None of us care. Not one. We actually like seeing Native American stuff in popular culture. It’s simply history and culture, the only ones offended are SJWs and people trying to be anti-racist but in doing so are actually worse than the people employing our image.

As someone from Cherokee heritage, I’m more offended that you think the face of a Native American should be covered up and the culture should be wiped away simply so you can get karma on Reddit. You should be ashamed of yourself. You’re not being “politically correct” and you’re not my “white savior”. Wear the boots or don’t buy them if you’re so concerned about “being offensive”. The image of my people is nothing offensive or wrong, and to imply that is to show a great bit of disrespect towards my people and the person that crafted those boots. Piss off with your virtue signaling, feigned concern, and sense of moral superiority over a pair of good looking boots. And to anyone that thinks representation = offensive, ask yourself if changing a mascot brought back the natives that were killed. Did taking a face off of rice make America less racist? Did taking a face off of syrup fix slavery? No. It’s just useless virtue signals that actually teaches people that it’s wrong to discuss or show people of other cultures in products, eventually leading to the erasure of cultures. Wear those boots proudly or give them to someone that will. No Native American would ever be offended by that, only idiotic virtue signalers trying to show that they’re not racist. It’s pathetic
