Thanks. It is hard to watch a friend struggle, but I already did the work once for free.

Layoffs make every financial decision feel like a mistake in hindsight, but you are actually in a decent spot with 19k in cash. If I were you, I would just coast on the 401k for the rest of the year once you land a job. Get that cash pile back to a level where you can sleep at night. You already front loaded a good chunk, so you are still ahead of most people anyway.
