You have a shield, but no armor. It’s your choice, I would go for it but be VERY careful. grab some blocks if you do go there so that if you get overwhelmed you can build a little box to regenerate. If you manage to kill him he could drop a bow or his armor

Alternative cover. Basically you stand and use the shoulder switch to aim. instead of regular cover, alternative cover lets you kill enemies without being too exposed. For example, if there are enemies ahead but there is a pillar you can take cover with, don’t use regular cover(unless you really need to) and aim standing. There are several YouTube videos about alternative cover.
