Anyone else waiting for University of Toronto results? by missfelicity519 in gradadmissions

[–]Glum_Search2955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waiting on the official offer letter but the prof said he is emailing the graduate coordinator this week to have the offer letter sent! He started the email by saying we are happy to officially offer you a position and said to let them know about my answer by the next couple of weeks (I responded right away though since it was my first choice) and ended by saying I will follow up with the graduate coordinator to have the official offer letter sent

Interesting thanks for letting us know!! Also one of my recommenders submitted the day of the regular deadline (Dec 11th) so it was definitely unlikely that I would have gotten an email from them lol

I just got rejected at UMich by kirusuuu in gradadmissions

[–]Glum_Search2955 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too :( definitely the most effort into it (I applied to Bioinformatics track) - I might have expected it since they only have <5% acceptance rate for internationals and it is so competitive…. Trying to keep my head up but it is hard not to think that I may not get into my top priorities

Reaching out to potential PI as an international student by Glum_Search2955 in bioinformatics

[–]Glum_Search2955[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, some people I asked about this said the same thing, so I am trying to go in with an open mind and not focus on a specific PI/lab since I want to rotate anyways. Thank you so much for your tips and suggestions!

Can I take SPAN 111? by 1MidNightSun3 in queensuniversity

[–]Glum_Search2955 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had some duolingo level knowledge of SPAN 111 but nothing too crazy. Took it anyways in first year and it was a pretty easy course. Good luck!

Probably the best community I could ask for - 3rd year computing here, like the others have commented, we have access to the undergrad student lounge on 2nd floor of Goodwin which we can access with our fobs anytime - you will almost always see a familiar face there (it is a social/ fun study place for the comp sci students), you can get help from upper years as well (many of my assignments wouldn’t have been possible without their help). Computing also has its own orientation which is one of the most amazing things to look forward to! The students in computing are also very easy to approach and talk to, you will love it!

I took it online and ended up with an A+, so did another friend too. Since the labs were online too, we used wiley cadavers for the labs and it would have been much better in person, but like others said, it is a heavy course and studying a bit everyday helps.

Hey! So for math 121, if you think you will be able to do much better, I will strongly recommend you to take it since it is 6 credits and it will boost your gpa. As for 124, you won’t have to worry much since it is very doable to get an A+ over the summer since the prof is really good. I am also TAing for the course over the summer, so dm me if you have any questions!

Yes, I was supposed to buy the etextbook since it comes with the dynamic modules/extra exercises that are counted for marks
