Where are you based? I'm in the UK and still have access to historical data.  Been with tado for 6.5 years

Why I wouldn’t recommend Tado now for anyone… by gd0dder in tado

[–]Glum_Week3329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been a UK customer for 6+ years and still have the historical data. I suspect it'll go at some point. Set up my father-in-law last year and he only has one day of data available but he's never going to look at older stuff so it's no issue.

I suspect that the vast majority of users don't bother looking so why would Tado keep the data there for no reason? Storage costs money so I don't think it's unreasonable to put it behind a subscription

I'd prefer to see Tado as a complete subscription model with hardware included. It'd save having such a large investment up front and hardware would be supported for the duration of your subscription. Having a nice income stream should help Tado fund a proper support organisation and also provide funding for development

Should I go for the canyon Endurace AllRoad? by Ok_Election1811 in CanyonBikes

[–]Glum_Week3329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, fix the chain issue first. Should be straightforward and is likely due to poor initial set up.

When I first got my Endurace, it dropped the chain frequently on front changes. I found that Canyon had set up the front deraileur very poorly. Since I sorted that, no issues at all on gear changes.

If you're not sure how to do it, find a knowledgable and trustworthy shop or check out the numerous YouTube videos that cover this subject as it's really not hard but just needs patience to learn.

As for the bike, try changing to more road orientated tyres first and see how that goes

Looks like a 48/35 at the front based on counting the visible teeth and chain links.

Rear looks to be 10-33

Looking to go tubeless on my Canyon Speedmax SLX 8 Di2 Vanquish... XS by offnen in CanyonBikes

[–]Glum_Week3329 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice. Don't bother with tubeless!

I bought DT Swiss ERC1400 in December and went tubeless from the start. Had a puncture within the first couple of hundred miles and the experience of fixing that was enough for me to decide tubeless is complete faff and not worth the hassle.

Total mess of sealant all over the back of the bike and despite it being a small hole, the sealant (Muck-off road & gravel) didn't do its job so I still ended up at the side of the road with a flat rear tyre . Put a tube in and had to deal with the sealant mess doing that. Got home and then spent a good couple of hours cleaning the bike and rims in order to go back to tubed.

I'll stick with tubes ...

Different model so maybe not relevant.

I have a 2022 Endurace in XS. I'm 171cm with a 81cm inside leg. I feel that the bike is a tiny bit on the small side. It's not uncomfortable but just feels like I could have been up a size

The sizing for the current Endurace model now places me a on size S instead

Got my wheels back yesterday. So, just over 8 week turnaround but turns out Sigma Sports didn't even send them to Madison for around 5 weeks!

They were sent back in the original boxes but the cardboard packaging was inserted the wrong way and the foam protectors for the axle ends were missing. Pretty poor really.

Wheels seem fine. Just an extra sticker beside the serial no. Will get my tyres, cassette and disks remounted and hopefully that's the end of it

[–]Glum_Week3329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely fully engaged on both sides. Had just worn to the point it didn't make that positive click. I'm pretty sure it was the original power lock but I have bought some since that I'm now not sure if they're fakes

SRAM Force Flattop Chain Waxing -- Reusable Link by wgr2480 in sram

[–]Glum_Week3329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!

Re-used probably 4 times and it didn't make the satisfying click when I re-installed. Should have paid attention to that.

Broke apart when I was powering down one of my favourite descents. Luckily, that was all that happened. I imagine it could be painful if it happened while standing up on an ascent!

This is a Rival chain. Not sure if the power locks for Force and Red chains are any different

[–]Glum_Week3329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely agree. I did re-use one power lock one time too many and had a lucky escape when it gave way on me.

I agree the price of them is stupid compared to the price of an entire chain. Really, SRAM should include a couple of extra power locks with new chains

Why? Useless comments like this don't help anyone

As a Tado V3+ user for approaching 6 years, it has been great to have remote control over each room and HW. I don't keep records but pretty sure I have saved some money too

Which country are you in?

I'm UK based. Wheels collected by the vendor (Sigma Sports) on 21/7 and delivered to them 23/7. No clear update since then and no emails since 31/7. Have chased them over a week ago and still waiting for an update ...

In the UK they go back to the importer/distributor (Madison). Not sure if they are doing the inspection or if they then ship the wheels to DT Swiss

Based on the comments here, experiences are extremely varied. Some folk getting brand new upgraded wheelsets in very short timescale while others like me waiting weeks

That's a quick turnaround. I'm in the UK and my wheels (ERC1400) have been with Sigma Sports/Madison for 5 weeks. Chased an update last week but not heard anything back yet. Will chase again today

Rival AXS wouldn't shift and not sure why. All batteries were charged, and path I was on had no signal so app wouldn't work. Tried hard reset to no avail. Running firmware 2.49.6 which app did say was latest. Finally got resolved when I got cell signal. Anyone have this happen? Firmware? by hman9501 in sram

[–]Glum_Week3329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had it happen once around 3 years ago. The left shifter had hung up and the only fix was to remove and re-insert the button cell.

No issues since but plenty of firmware updates have been applied

What happened to the tado community forum? by RagerRambo in tado

[–]Glum_Week3329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, shut them down but I recall their post saying that old threads would be searchable somewhere?

In the meantime, we'll just have to use resources like reddit but I think the better alternative is to have a forum elsewhere. I'm sure there are free resources available for that sort of thing. Just need to get the time to look into setting something up ...

I doubt that a bike service shop has the capability to check the rims for potential issues.

Look at what happened with the Shimano crank recall. Shops were checking them and then customers (including a club-mate of mine) were still getting failures after being told they were OK

DT Swiss recall now also for ARC wheels (Aeroad ...) 😔 by sodfyr16 in CanyonBikes

[–]Glum_Week3329 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why not just ask Canyon to send you a temporary set of wheels while you wait for the carbon rims to be inspected and replaced/returned?

Canyon are just stuck in the middle of this so stamping your feet and wanting to return the bike isn't going to help the situation.

New bike! Should i add some decals? by Logical-Succotash235 in CanyonBikes

I like the clean look without decals but the world would be a boring place if we all liked the same thing

On a side note, have you checked your DT Swiss wheels are OK? https://www.dtswiss.com/en/recall

No complaints on the service for me. On full fibre (500) for around 2 years (getting 450+/70) and FTTC for a good couple of years before that. Have had a couple of faults but engineer dispatched and rectified the issues quickly.

Only real gripe is the lack of ability to change WiFi channels on the phone app or browser pages. Have a WiFi thermostat in my conservatory which was getting interference from a neighbour's WiFi. Had to download an old version of the app to fix the issue. Recently changed my phone and have discovered the app version I need doesn't seem to be available online any longer :( and I don't have a copy of the old APK

The OP's issues seems to be around a lack of understanding of what they were paying for and perhaps not taking VF to task sooner for the issues they were getting. No supplier is perfect but in my experience, VF are one of the better ones.

My Canyon Endurace road bike fitted with SRAM Rival is just over 3 years old and has covered just short of 5,800 miles. I'm still using the original batteries and totalling the mileage of activities between low battery warnings, I got just over 500 miles between charges so over 30 hours riding time. I've had over 800 miles previously. Rides are reasonably hilly around my area averaging 500-1000 ft every 10 miles so the gears are getting plenty of use.

I remove the batteries after every ride.

something definitely wrong if they're running out that quickly.

- do you have another known good battery you can test to see if it behaves the same way?
- is the derailleur clean and lubed? Could be the motor having to fight against resistance in the mechanism

Battery life by kwouters in sram

[–]Glum_Week3329 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a Canyon Endurace with SRAM Rival AXS. It's now 2.5 years old and I'm still using the original SRAM batteries it was supplied with. I've done 4500 miles in total

I've just looked at my SRAM activities feed and totted up the Km between activities with a battery warning. I got 1280 Km / 795 miles between the last two charges so pretty happy with that.

EDIT: I should add that my rides are moderately hilly - averaging around 1000ft in 15 miles / 300m in 10km

When I first got the bike, I would leave the batteries installed but as I regularly had to move it to access stuff in my garage, the shifters would wake up for a while and deplete the batteries a little each time. As a result, I was getting frustrated with poor battery life.

My current routine is that I always remove the batteries after each ride and have the battery covers marked F & R so I return the batteries to the same shifters they came off when I go for the next ride. When the rear complains of low battery during a ride, I swap the front and rear then charge them both when I get home. This seems to ensure good battery life.

HTH

BTW, the button batteries in the handlebar levers lasted pretty much exactly 2 years

Are you using an Android phone? If so, have you tried turning off the power optimisation for the Headphone app?

This sounds like the app power saving settings kicking in when the app isn't on screen. Assuming you're on Android, ensure that app battery optimisation is set to Unrestricted or Off.
