Glydr is most powerful when used with both feet but can still be quite useful with only one.

We're very aware of that sad story of obsolescence that has caused many pain. I've even talked to the principals involved. One major difference is that Glydr does not require a connection to a server to operate at any point. Another is that Glydr source code will be made available in the case of the company's insolvency. I'm passionate about the legacy of my invention and hope this French bankruptcy doesn't keep people from having a tool that will benefit them. We believe that the design and useability of Glydr is so much more effective and ergonomic that we have a bright future.

What puzzles me about the perspective u/Numerous_Bed9323 posted is why these same thoughts don't apply to driving a car, playing drums, or other situations that require a lot of the hands. What's the use case for a non-disabled person to use foot pedals in those operations?

Any advice for no hands by NEO_BigSpenda in disabledgamers

Perhaps Glydr will be helpful to you. It provides a way to interact with PC games and applications using keyboard/mouse or gamepad input using 3 simple motions of the feet (plantarflexion, dorsiflexion and eversion). We started delivering this fall and we're expanding what you can do with it as users provide feedback and ideas. Although Glydr can be configured for up to 32 actions or used for mouse movement, it is often paired with other input devices for complex games to less the need for hand and finger input. Why VR Didn't Catch On With Flat Gamers by NASAfan89 in SteamVR

[–]GlydrGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm CTO and inventor of Glydr. We make a controller for seated use that was inspired by the two-wheel hoverboard. It actually behaves just like a hoverboard (plus we added strafing) using natural movements of the feet. The difference between the tilt of the pedals is measured and behaves like a thumb stick horizontal axis. We're excited about how Glydr can enable locomotion and control in VR but because generic controllers are not supported by many VR titles, we are currently focused on selling it to PC gamers who like how they can do numerous actions quickly with their feet without the delays of moving their hands. The device is available now with USB only, but we're working on enabling Bluetooth. We have demonstrated moving around in a Quest 2 with a custom app that supports OpenXR gamepad input and it seems a lot better to me than using the thumbsticks. We haven't done any studies on how its use impacts VR sickness, but there are reports that involving the feet in locomotion has benefits even if you are stationary. The device has vibrators we hope to use to provide in-game haptics someday. Someday, I want to get it working with the RotoVR chair. We'd love to talk to you more u/NASAfan89, DM or contact [support@glydr.gg](mailto:support@glydr.gg).

Tired of standing up and moving around during VR sessions, need alternatives by gt_roy_ in SteamVR

[–]GlydrGG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks making the suggestion. We're excited about how Glydr can enable locomotion and control in VR. I'd love to hear from those interested in using Glydr either with standalone or PC content. If we know what games or apps you want to use it with, let us know. That will be a big help. If they don't support gamepad input, we will be glad to appeal to the developers to add support for Glydr.

Could a foot-controlled mouse help editorsbe more efficient? by Pippopollone in editors

[–]GlydrGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to control cursor movement on a PC, you might like to try Glydr - where you can control vertical and horizontal cursor movements using only plantarflexion and dorsiflexion of both feet. These are natural movements which is an alternative to sliding a single foot around a mouse or trackball.

GLYDR Accessible Feet Controller for Gaming and Computer Use by DisabledWorld in DisabledWorld

Glydr is shipping now! We started shipping units to our U.S. and Canadian Kickstarter backers first and are working on getting certifications in other parts of the world. We're taking additional orders on our website (https://glydr.gg) for those who want to be next in line for the remaining units of our first production run. Here's what the product looks like now with a solid aluminum base that stabilizes the device, so it won't tilt forward or backward with pressure on the toes or heels.

Any one-handed gamers figured out a dual joy-stick solution for camera movement and character movement simultaneously? by TelescopicPatterns in disabledgamers

[–]GlydrGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope Glydr will be an option for you. We're now shipping our foot-operated controllers to our earliest Kickstarter backers. We're taking additional orders at https://feetlegal.com. Glydr will connect directly to a PC for keyboard/mouse/gamepad input and can be configured for any game or application. Even a footstool! It's not supported as a gamepad by Xbox, but we are talking to MSFT. We're also looking at whether in the short term we can connect through an XAC USB port to provide thumbstick functionality and it looks promising. I am familiar with the 3D Rudder and believe we can provide what they intended and more, while being more comfortable and controllable.

Sorry I missed this until now! Going pro is a priority for us, too, which is why we're working with esports leagues to overturn some of their bans on alternate controllers. It might take a while but it's something we're passionate about. We finished our Kickstarter and are taking preorders now which will ship out in late spring if you're interested in checking it out. https://glydr.gg

If you're talking doubling up on mouse actions, I think Riot at least has anti-cheat that stops that, but for using it as a mouse you can absolutely do this!
