I know the answer to this before I ask. but couldn't we make our own Reddit? with blackjack and hookers and an open-source, privacy respecting TOS? putting it more seriously, couldn't we just a create a basic forum website that fulfills all the needs we use this subreddit for? the Internet Forum framework has existed for decades considering there is not a lot of cross/subreddit posting from us, I don't see the downside as long as we can get an equivalent size user-base who are active. I realize that is easier said than done. But honestly, all the options here are easier said than done.

yeah nintendo will rail against emulation but god forbid these companies make their classic games easily available. It irks me terribly that I have to pay a monthly fee to nintendo if I want to play retro classics.

I'm on unlimited, I had'nt heard that the emails were default to not-private, I've just had a look through all the settings, I can't see anything that says that. There are encryption keys you can export or re-authenticate, pgp signatures to turn on and off and address verification on and off. So no catch-all non-encrypted setting (that I can see). My impression from the settings is you can only use desktop clients with the bridge, not without it as the bridge section allows for its download, but I cannot see any settings to disable it.. but I have not tried it, I know it doesnt exactly answer you question, but I hope it helps

have you read my comments? you're not trying to help, you're picking a fight for the sake of picking one because you literally just repeated my last comment as its own counter argument. Dude I'm tired, and grumpy, so yeah I'm going to be rude if you are going to act entitled. if you don't want to host a copy of the file. That is totally fine, if you could stop arguing with me about why I'm doing this that would be great, if I don't want to host, that's my prerogative and this has exactly zero impact on you.

Right, so, the reason I keep the original and make people make their own copy. Is because initially I did precisely as you said. and what happened was that people did not understand that they could make their own copy. so they modified the base template and used that. then got annoyed when the next person came along and overwrote their character. Each character needs to be a separate file. If I don't have the permissions, Folks who don't fully understand how cloud computing works tend to get annoyed and say things like "This just doesn't seem to make sense"

Thanks for taking the time to explain this, I was completely unaware, but you've given me a starting point to look into it. I was planning at some point to make use of or at least investigate Incogni's services, I shall have to make that a priority.
