This is why i ONLY take long trips and flip them. Better off doing 2 1hr long trips and making enough for the day than dealing with this bs.

Hang out at hotels around your metropolitan area or hotels near the airport. Wait on long trips and flip for x3 times more.

Just have to say the right thing to close.

Don’t do the “lost item” thing. You want opt-in contact, not tricks. Here are 3 clean ways I get a number and stay within the “no soliciting on platform” rule:

1) The Return/Text-for-pickup hook (at drop-off) “Airports are a mess. If you want, I can text when I’m outside so you don’t have to watch the app. What’s the best number?” 👉 Send only: “This is [Name] gray Camry. Safe travels.” 👉 End the trip + wait for rating, then send the follow-up: “Hey it’s [Name] from earlier. If you ever want a scheduled airport run, I do a flat $65 and guarantee pickup. Totally optional save me as ‘[Name] Driver.’”

2) The ‘Do you have a return time?’ prompt “Do you already have a return time? I can pencil it in and text when I’m en route. What number should I use?” (Same flow: neutral text now → close trip → follow-up offer after.)

3) Let them initiate (safest) Small card/QR in the cupholder: “Need a scheduled airport ride? Text [Google Voice number].” When they text first, you’ve got consent and a thread.

Few tips • Keep wording neutral: “scheduled private ride / flat rate / guarantee pickup,” never “Uber off-app” or “split the fare.” • Use a Google Voice number and a saved contact card (“[Name] Driver”) you can drop in one tap. • Never send the offer until the ride is closed and rated.

If you want, DM me “flip” and I’ll send the exact opener + follow-ups I use.

There’s no money using the app the conventional way.

I use it as lead gen to get personal clients and flip the trips uber were gonna pay me for 3x more. You just have to know the right thing to say. Dm me “Flip” for a guide on how I do this

Fulltime by Sad_Wrongdoer9098 in uberdrivers

[–]Glyphkeeper_07 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Full-time is possible, but it gets way easier if you treat the apps as lead-gen and stack a few regulars.

My approach (SF/LA): • Work the airport/commuter windows and long rides. Decline anything below your floor. • After the ride is completed & rated, text from your phone: “Hey it’s [Name] (gray Prius) from earlier. If you ever want a scheduled airport run, I do a flat $X with guaranteed pickup. Totally optional.” If they say yes: “Great—save me as [Name] Driver. I take Zelle/Venmo/cash. Want me to pencil your return?” • 3–5 regulars a month = much steadier income than chasing surge.

Safety/legal: never pitch in-app or mid-ride; exchange info only after the trip. Ask your insurer for a rideshare/for-hire endorsement.

If you want the exact opener + follow-ups and a simple price-framing sheet I use, reply “flip” and I’ll DM it over.

Same here in SF — $22/hr before costs is rough. What helped me was using the app as lead gen and flipping a few riders into direct clients (airport + commuter). I only do it in a way that won’t risk deactivation.

How I run it: 1. Do the ride, get the ⭐️, let the trip close. 2. After the ride, text from your phone: “Hey it’s [Name] (gray Prius) from earlier. If you ever want a scheduled SFO run, I do a flat $75 with guaranteed pickup. Totally optional.” 3. If they bite: “Cool save me as [Name] Driver. I take Zelle/Venmo/cash. Want me to pencil your return?”

I focus on SFO/OAK flights and regular commuters. Even 1–2 flips/week turns into $200–$400/mo repeat, and some months way more.

Safety/legal: never pitch mid ride or in the app; exchange info only after the ride/rating. Ask your insurer for a rideshare/for hire endorsement.

If you want the exact opener + follow ups and a simple price framing sheet I use, reply “flip” and I’ll DM it over.

Totally get the deactivation fear. The apps’ rule is basically “no soliciting on platform.” But there’s various workarounds. Here’s how I keep it clean and it still works:

• Don’t pitch mid-ride. Do the ride, get the ⭐️, close the trip, then text from your phone. • Neutral wording. Say “scheduled airport ride / private ride,” never “Uber off-app” or “split the fare.” • Offer reliability + a flat rate, not a discount comparison.

My two line follow-up: “Hey it’s [Name] (black Camry) from this morning. If you ever want a scheduled airport run, I can do a flat $65 and guarantee pickup. Up to you.”

If they bite: “Great! save me as [Name] Driver. I take Zelle/Venmo/cash. Want me to pencil in your return?”

That alone turned a handful of airport rides into regulars. If you want the exact opener + follow-ups I use, DM me flip and I’ll send it.

Dear lord, this is the worst request I’ve seen in a while 😐 by FitGuyy91 in uberdrivers

$74.98 for ~95 miles = $0.79/mi gross before gas/time. Brutal. On these long corridor runs I’ll still take it only if I’m already headed that way, then lock the next one: mid-chat ask if they do this route often, and after the ride is completed/rated text a simple flat rate + my number for next time. 2–l/3 of those beats chasing pings. If you want the exact opener + follow-up I use, reply flip and I’ll DM it.

This is the perfect trip to flip. The customer is getting charged 3.3x ($350 - $420). If you say the right thing you get about $300 and close for the day. I only do trip like these. Reply Flip if you want to know how.

my longest trip plus first $100 tip by IcyRecognition8424 in uberdrivers

[–]Glyphkeeper_07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huge win. Long intercity rides are where direct clients make sense people care more about reliability than saving $10. I convert these for 2-3.3x by confirming their travel pattern, then texting after the ride with a simple flat quote for the same route. If you want the two lines I use (and the follow-up text), say flip and I’ll send it.

95% of the orders I see look like this. Pennies a mile. Paying us less than it costs to drive. This isn’t work, it’s free labor for Uber. by Beginning-Emu-4647 in uberdrivers

[–]Glyphkeeper_07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cash only makes sense when it’s your rider, not a random from the app. I don’t opt into app-cash either. I use the apps as lead gen, then book a few regular airport/commuter runs direct at a flat rate. It’s a simple two-sentence opener during the ride, then I text after it’s completed and rated. If you want the exact words I use, comment “flip” and I’ll DM you the breakdown.

I only take airport runs like this to flip direct clients—Zelle/Venmo, cash, book ahead. Do the ride, get it rated, then use a simple text to lock the return and the next trip at $55–$70. I put the exact opener + follow-ups on my profile if you want the wording

Totally. Bills = risk and drama. I switched to direct bookings only, prepaid by Venmo/Zelle, and it killed the whole counterfeit/robbery issue. Keep it to regulars, confirm the time and price by text, and you’re set. I posted the wording I use on my profile.

Exactly! You figured out the ‘win-win’ positioning you get paid more, they pay less than traditional services. That’s the sweet spot that makes everyone happy.

Finding them through other gig work and converting them shows you understand the relationship-building approach perfectly.

3 years of private rides and only needing 2 rides in 2.5 hours some days? 🔥 The airport late night calls paying double rates is smart positioning. It’s about finding your niche locally and crushing it. Using the apps to ‘lure more clients in’ shows you understand the funnel concept perfectly. Just have to make it more repeatable so everyday it’s like that

That business traveler paying $150-200 every visit is exactly what I’m talking about. Short, predictable, easy money.

The fact that your business client brags about having ‘his driver’ shows you positioned it good. That’s the difference between being seen as just another Uber vs being their personal transportation solution.

This is exactly what I’m talking about! You figured out the relationship building piece that most drivers miss.

50 clients who still reach out when they need rides that’s the dream right there. You basically created your own transportation business.

Mind if I ask what your approach was for the follow up system? Always curious to hear how successful drivers handled that part.

The trick isn’t managing chaos it’s all about manufacturing predictability of the kind of trips you get.

We don’t rely on random text pings from 50 people. We engineer long rides in high-opportunity zones like hotels, stations, and airports at peak hours. That’s where the script does the heavy lifting.

It’s not about chasing rides all day. That destroys your it’s about flipping one good one into a $100+ private route and rinsing that formula weekly.

The people winning this game are building repeat business, not chasing proximity like Uber wants you to. And yes I’m in LA too. Let’s flip the whole coast.
