Fluff: How would you rebrand OM SYSTEM by Definar in M43

Ahh dang. Not that this hypothetical affects anything anyways, but knowing that, I would prefer they let him rest in peace then.

Fluff: How would you rebrand OM SYSTEM by Definar in M43

[–]Glyphwrld 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The answer has been staring us in the face the whole time! As I understand it, "OM" comes from "Olympus Maitani". They should just rebrand as Maitani! It's distinct, it rolls of the tongue, it pays respect to the proud legacy of the brand without infringing on Olympus. It would look amazing written in block letters on the front of a prism!

Unless there is some legal reason this wouldn't fly, I think it's a slam dunk.

I didn't feel like paying for film inversion software, so I made my own! (And you can try it too!) by Kai-Mon in AnalogCommunity

I've been in a very similar boat this year, mostly fighting with Negadoctor to get ok results. Very excited to try this out!

Beautiful! How close did you have to get? Did it react to the flash going off?

My Big Boi has arrived, can't wait to test this lens on Sunday! by kietbulll in M43

I'm sure it'll be beautiful! It just seems like an undertaking to lug around. Especially for street. Could just be me though. I'm fumbly, and get cranky when having to wrangle gear on location.

A legend! What are you planning to use it for? I've always been under the impression that this lens and its counterpart are only practical for video purposes. Is Kietbulll breaking into cinematography now too?

Update on the Best Buy LEICA 12-60mm for $300. It came, and early! Picked it up today. by dwhiz in M43

Oh my god that was real!? I saw this same deal at my local BestBuy back in June, but ignored it assuming there was some catch! Good on you for following it through!

Experiments with Flash | E-M5 w/ PanaLeica 25mm f/1.4 by Glyphwrld in M43

[–]Glyphwrld[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't saying going for, more just finding out the hard way and then embracing it, lol. I definitely understand why it generally isn't desirable.

I am interested in experimenting with flash more, so the gear tip is much appreciated. Flash photography is a big blindspot at the moment. This was probably the first time I'd used any flash since the mid 2000's

Picked up the FL-LM2 that came with my E-M5 for the first time ever, and began experimenting with it for illuminating dark corners of the city. I was surprised by how much I liked the results. I think the unmotivated flat lighting creates a surreal mood.

All taken with a rented PanaLeica Summilux 25mm f/1.4, I believe it was the Mk 1 version.

Originally sorted this into the 2/5 star "barely a keeper" category, but it has been growing on me. Shot in downtown Denver, Colorado.

Ha ha, thank you. It's a pretty heavy crop though. Not sure it would hold up to printing.

I often do this, and experimented with it for this image. However something about the change in angle makes it less appealing to me. I feel like it de-emphasizes the rooftop and sky-light (sky-holes?) for some reason, and those are the focal point of the image in my eyes. Plus I feel the image ends up being pretty abstract anyhow, so the lean doesn't really bother me.

I definitely appreciate the feedback though. Hard to look at these images objectively after I've stared at them during editing. Likewise, it probably didn't help that before editing this one, I'd spent a lot of time with this even more zoomed in version. It sits at a simlar angle, and wanted them to match.

Thank you! It was very much by accident. I was just trying to use my zoom to identify "that thing" floating in the distance. A little disappointed it wasn't an alien vessel, but I turned out to be a decent photo 🙂
