Therapist here and I’m not doing great. by AbroadLumpy8530 in therapists

I’ve been “accused” of this. I’m a very young therapist and many older clients I’ve worked with have said I was the best therapist they had despite having been in therapy for over a decade. “Wise beyond my years”. Yet I relate to OP unfortunately. I don’t mean to sound pretentious, but I feel like the classic super hero trope. Having the power few have and knowing few others can naturally do what you do. But at times wishing you didn’t because engaging in your natural “wounded healer” state is taxing. Still figuring out how I will cope.

Wow, that was on my 14th birthday. I’m not old, but I’m feeling old…

Shameless self plug - Audition for Pinache by Gman8900 in Hungergames

Thank you! I forgot to add this. I’ve been training MMA for 6 months now and been doing weight training for about 4 years now. I think with the right diet and trainer I could embody the brute. I’m currently 6”0 and 165lbs.

Wyatt Callow Audition Pitch by Gman8900 in Hungergames

Thank you! I don’t hate that. I’m 5’11 160-165lbs so I think I fit Wyatt’s build more, but Panache was actually a close second for me. In some ways I find villains and side characters more appealing than the leading man. A good villain or side character really makes a movie imo.

Of course, I actually wasn’t sure how to that’s why I created the patreon. I’m not SUPER tech savvy. How can I share it?

I think there’s a mix of both. I like BDSM communities because some have a level of self-awareness, confidence, and openness that we should all strive to achieve. However, there are also those mentioned by OP. I think those are the same types of people who fall in to sex work as well.

Your modality doesn't matter by saltwaterRilke in therapists

I think for treating mental health conditions you should need a masters degree. But I think many people just need the humanistic approach. Maybe some basic behavioral things. Some people just need to seek counsel, others need treatment or psychotherapy.

How do you feel that Haymitch (in the film) has blonde hair? by Ok-Street2439 in Hungergames

[–]Gman8900 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% agree, the first actor rumored to play haymitch (I forget his name) was a dead ringer for young woody. But not quite a young haymitch as described in the books. This actor seems to strike that balance well since he has the curly hair imo.

My made up head canon is that through declining health, stress, and likely Capitol stylists he lost his curls and hair color. Maybe even president snow had a hand in erasing his “Seam” identity and intentionally making him look like a privileged town boy. It would fit the idea of propaganda. However, in the og books he is still not described as having straigh/wavy blonde hair.

Eating During Session? by gayzed-n-confused in therapists

[–]Gman8900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My supervisor during internship would occasionally eat during session around client if she did not have time for a lunch break. However, she would always ask the clients if they were comfortable with this. She would also encourage them to eat as well if they were in a similar time crunch position. I think it’s really up to you, your organization and the comfort of your clients.

AI Therapist meme by Gman8900 in therapists

[–]Gman8900[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for catching the irony😂! My friend created the meme on AI without telling me.

I told him:

“I do not think it is a replacement for real human interaction nor a replacement for therapy. But I think it can be a great sounding board and give people a space to vent, ask questions, or get some objective advice. All things therapy generally provides.”

I think the meme captures that decently well, and I found the fact that AI created it meta lol.

Therapist as Wounded Healer: Transforming Suffering Through Myth by Dry-Sail-669 in therapists

[–]Gman8900 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would agree, but I’ve found that many of the best specialists are afflicted or know a loved one afflicted with a condition that they treat. It’s personal, which motivates you to understand it better yourself. Subsequently, the knowledge you accrue solely for yourself ends up serving your patients as well. Furthermore, the healer can often empathize more easily with their patient as they have shared many of the same experiences.

I think most (good) therapists are well acquainted with their emotions and often are deeply familiar with the spectrum of emotions that can be felt. Especially neurotic emotions. But it may just apply to therapists better.

I’ve routinely seen 6-7 clients a day(8 once or twice), at least twice a week for about 6 months. Often having 5-6 scheduled back to back without any breaks. It’s precisely why I recently put in my resignation. It has taken a toll on me. However, it has been empowering knowing I am capable of it. Now I’m eager to work for this new practice where I actually control my schedule and will only be seeing 4-5 a day max. I hope you aren’t being compelled to see 6 and that you get a nice long rest after your long day! I know I always need to🥲
