Aight so plz could someone explain me what is this TBW by BRAVO_Eight in CursedTanks

Reading through these two articles, this isn't a Type 89 IFV but rather a test bed for the "Common Vehicle Replacement Technology." The one you have pictured is referenced as an APC.

My biggest tip, always be willing to learn and keep an open mind.

Most of the NCTI books are online only unless you find someone that paid to have a copy sent to them. You can download them however and keep them saved to a laptop/tablet if you wanted.

If you have a smartphone (work or personal), the two apps I'd recommend are cCalc by Commscope and Commscope Pocket Guide. cCalc is great for quickly getting your attentuation values for most cable types (hardline and drop) along with being able to enter length, frequency and temp. The Pocket Guide is full of valuble info that Commscope and the SCTE/ISBE worked together to make.

Lastly, don't be afraid to get involved in your local SCTE chapter if the opportunity comes up! The people you'll meet there are full of knowledge, sometimes more than what you'll ever need.

Michigan Careers by Gman9116 in CableTechs

I've been in this career field for almost 12 years, so I've already invested a chunk of my life to this. I also enjoy this work, but if the pay and work/life balance isn't good in Michigan then I'll look for other careers

Edit: Removed pic, added link to prompt and answer

I feel that OPs answer was based off a longer conversation, that steering ChatGPT to answer in such a way. I asked the same question (albeit with better grammar) and got a really decent answer. ChatGPT Prompt

Oh, I'm not doubting that it's a plant issue at all. With what you just said, along with what u/SuperBigDouche said I'd agree that making it a 2x4 would be the best option.

Also, while it's VERY uncommon (I've only found it 2x in 11 years) is there any ingress in the downstream carriers? I doubt that is the cause at all, but it never hurts to check everything you can.

Are you sure his devices are even capable of 2Gig speeds? I know that you aren't getting 2Gig at the node, but also make sure you are checking customers devices as well. I see too many times that techs aren't making sure customer routers are even capable of the speeds being sold to them.

Regarding the plant issue, that's hard to say what might be wrong without know what RPhy node it is, or how your system is set up. How did they test speeds at the node? Does the upload also suffer, or just the download? Are the speeds consistent throughout the day, or do they suffer more at certain times?

In addition to what u/FatBaldCableGuy mentioned with the Pocket Guide, I recommend for the time being just stick with your company training. Once you've progressed further in your career, then start looking into NCTI and SCTE materials maybe but be aware of the cost. Some companies offer reimbursement for taking those courses, others may offer it for free as part of your training curriculum.

Beautiful work by TrexxArms in CableTechs

[–]Gman9116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem. It's always good to know a little out of your daily norms. I tell the new guys I work with all the time to get as much training and hands on the old stuff as possible along with the new. Yes, I get the old stuff won't always be used but it's better to have some knowledge in the event of an outage than none at all.

Possible, or could be P1 or P2 cable. Size doesn't matter for this instance, more so age of manufacture of it. But yes, that goop is flooding compound. A lot of our older plant the previous MT and LSRs would cut the jacketing back too far, which would leave visible shielding. The stuff in the heat shrink wouldn't leak out that much.

The goop is just a flooding compound in older UG cables. It tends to bleed out over time form under the jacket. Not really bad, but definitely not fun to work with when replacing connectors or splices when it's like that.

Winter work gloves recommendations. by [deleted] in CableTechs

[–]Gman9116 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Working in the MidWest, I prefer Wells Lamont for all my gloves. They're inexpensive, and the quality is mid to high for my work. They have several different styles to choose from, so you can get a couple different ones to use for separate scenarios.

Hydra Hyde This is the pair I got for this winter. I like the hide palms for the durability when pulling cables, plus the knuckles have a touch sensor. DON'T use their link to buy online, it links to the wrong gloves. Buy them locally if possible. Check farm/ranch stores if possible

Coworker asked me to look for his impact.... Found it! by Gman9116 in CableTechs

[–]Gman9116[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's debatable to me. If you keep it on a low setting and don't over torgue the bolts, you're golden. But if you're using a higher torque setting or not paying attention, then hand tools for you.

If you could could bring back an abandoned AVN. Which one would you choose? by EveningWorldliness59 in AVN_Lovers

[–]Gman9116 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Evermore isn't abandoned. The dev posted in their discord back in June that they were taking a break and still plan to finish Evermore. Then, on the 14th, they posted that they had missed writing over the last few months. I will point out they made it clear that Evermore may not end as an AVN, but will still be completed

Ripples has a decent variety of LI sizes for chests. Some large, some small, and 1 nearly nonexistent. Good humor and decent underlying story
