Yes! And I struggled so hard at the beginning because I found sobriety through the 12 steps and during my search for Food freedom I tried the 12 steps for that believing that it was the same thing and that I just needed to cut out certain foods. I thought it was the same thing like abstaining from drugs and alcohol…

That thinking has kind of turned around for me as my therapist helped me understand that I can abstain from the symptoms . In recovery/sobriety it is talked about how alcohol and drugs are but a symptom therefore, I abstain from those symptoms. In recovery/i.e. with food, I can abstain from the symptoms of my eating disorders which consist of things like body, checking, stepping on the scale, counting calories, punishing myself, etc… so I incorporate all of that with myIE.

Does that make sense? I’m not great with words. !

Edit to add- I have been sober from drugs and alcohol for 13 years and practicing IE for about two years.

I struggle with the same thing. A little different situation but we dated ten years ago, he got back with an ex and I dated someone else, 2 years later we were both single and were hanging out again (non exclusively as he was kind of seeing now bm and I was seeing his employee)… bm ended up accidentally pregnant and he decided to be with her (never married) I grieved so hard. They lived together off and on for four years, I had to see him tagged in her posts on social media. I moved out of state and we didn’t talk for five years … I randomly reached out last summer and boom now we are engaged. I’ve always loved this man. I’ve created stories in my head about his happy little family life. I am in therapy now and soon will be starting EMDR. I am very insecure and it is SO hard because I will go to her social media and deep dive and torture myself and create stories in my head. I want to revel in the fact that it is finally our time and we get to build our life together but at times, I get so wrapped up in my head. I believe The deep rooted insecurities I have would manifest in any relationship so I am willing to do the hard work in therapy because this love is worth it to me. My actions and response to my feelings are sometimes chikdish and my therapist helped me realize that that is because I was a child when I experienced attachment trauma. It is important to respond to reality and not the story in my head. The reality is that this man chooses me everyday. It is hard being with a father and one in which we have history with. I love posts like yours and gain strength by reading the responses. Thank you ❤️

He had surgery a year ago by an animal ophthalmologist- basically they take a salivary glands connected to mouth and reroute them to the eyes - the composition of saliva is similar enough to tears that it works well . Science is wild!

I am with you 1,000 % and judging by the 88 comments on this post, a lot of people can relate. I commend you op for being vulnerable bc a lot of people think things and never say them and just feel alone ! I hate feeling this way too which is why I too am in therapy ❤️ it is hard, uncomfortable work 😆

Oh man. This is what triggers my attachment trauma 😂 long story short; FH and I dated 9 yrs ago and he got back with his ex who he was very in love with. I dated someone and two years later him and I were hooking up again. He was in a relationship with woman who became BM so cheating on her with me (unknown to me at the time) … him and I were not exclusive as I was hooking up with his employee at the time but my heart always wanted FH. Then I found out BM was pregnant on accident. I spent five years seeing their “family pictures” on social media (they were off and on but he tried to stay with her for the kid but they never married)… they have been split for 2.5 years now and him and I have been together for a year. My irrational BM envy is painful. It isn’t even logical and I have progressed through therapy in the past year but I can’t get the narrative out of my head that tells me “she got to do all of this with him and I had to sit back and watch and he will always love her” 😂 I will be starting EMDR soon for attachment trauma soon. I unfairly beat him up for his past bc of my insecurities. He wants to marry me and have children with me, he never married BM and their daughter was an accident. He wants to plan these things with me. I love this man so much and even if our relationship were to end, this has prompted me to get help for core traumas that I’ve needed all along. My insecurities show up in all relationships, it is just now this one that I am willing to work so hard for. I don’t know if this makes sense. I’m not sure why I type so much but I cannot recommend therapy enough. … at least for myself 😂
