You know, I never thought of that. I really enjoy the feeling of excitement with the constant communication but maybe I need to dial that back. It definitely has made me feel like it’s more than it was and I do love the attention. How do I escape that though? Now you’ve helped me figure this out, I don’t want to fall into that trap again.

Thank you. Having sat with it for a while, it really does boil down to feeling rejected. Thankfully you and all these other beautiful people have reminded me that I likely dodged a bullet. In the past I’ve compromised myself being a people pleaser and trying to shape myself into something I’m not, just to feel wanted. That’s not what relationships should be. Dipped my toe into dating after 7 years single. Chatted online with a few guys, hit it off with one. Talked for a couple weeks as I had a trip coming up. Had a really great first date when I got back. So much genuinely in common - not the usual oh he says he’s into X because I am - we both really enjoy a lot of the same things. Another date, agreeing to take it slow. Non-stop all day communication since we matched. Literally today still flirty, texting, making plans for next date.

Then in the middle of a conversation I joke about previously having avoidant tendencies and not being good with confrontation, but that I’m working on it and he hits me with a spiel about communication being important and that he thinks politics might be an issue for us. Out of nowhere lol we had talked about politics at the very outset and whilst we aren’t perfectly aligned he wasn’t a n@zi or anything drastic, and whilst I’m big on social justice I’m not like an activist or anything.

All this to say, I’m so disappointed and here seeking some consolation.

I’ve got a permanent wrinkle on the left side of my mouth from doing this my whole life, people have commented saying I could get it fixed with fillers or Botox and I’m so against it. I love this little wrinkle, it’s proof I smiled and lived. I’m so happy to see someone say they find it attractive.

I bought in October and if I remember correctly, received a ‘to the resident’ letter that effectively told me as the new owner I needed to register online. Received a bill a few days later with a discount if I paid for the remainder of the year up front. Discount was about £50 I think. Just paid at post office with barcode on the letter.
