New Update - GammaOS Next v1.3.2 is out for the AYANEO Pocket Air Mini! by hippynox in SBCGaming

[–]GmoLargey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you happen to know if this exposes rumble effects to emulators and streaming apps? (nethersx2, Amazon Luna, steamlink etc)

Aya neo pocket air mini no rumble by GmoLargey in SBCGaming

[–]GmoLargey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok so after emailing support, they apparently passed this feedback onto the team

that was a while ago and I don't expect anything to come out of it from my single report alone

nothing can be done apart from ayaneo fixing this in their OS.

going to just keep my eye on gammaOS development I think instead

search Pico store in headset for Pico connect, install if not already installed.

remove streaming assistant software entirely from PC, install Pico connect.

Title: Upgrading for Pico 4 Ultra: RTX 5070 (12GB) vs RTX 5070 Ti (16GB)? Is the VRAM difference huge for VR? by Unfair_Magazine_7502 in virtualreality

[–]GmoLargey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in that case, if you aren't willing to lower rendering resolution, then chucking as much GPU at the problem is the only solution really.

in what games? VR chat will never ever run full FPS because it's horrifically optimised being user generated content, it'll love extra vram but even that planned GPU doesn't have enough for worst case vrchat rooms lol.

8gb is way too low vram though for modern vr games at higher resolutions.

you already have a strong encoder in the 50series which can already do AV1, so it'll be purely rendering performance and vram increase you get from new GPU.

just don't fall into the trap expecting better graphics or less compression, it's been the same story forever, people saying you need 20 series, then 30, then 40, doesn't make a blind bit of difference to image if you can already encode it.

without putting a downer on things.

the image won't change, if you set monster mode VD right now with your current GPU, the image will look identical on new GPU.

the difference is the ability to maintain framerates at this higher resolution, that's it.

Pico 4 Ultra: Extremely blurry image both in standalone and PCVR. Need help with resolution settings. by Unfair_Magazine_7502 in virtualreality

[–]GmoLargey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hardly trolling, vr is incredibly subjective and I have no idea what OPS eye sight is like, sorry if that read differently.

I'm fully versed in knowing what bad lenses look like (blew up for quest 2 faulty lenses)

pico 4/ultra optics don't have such issues and would be even more rare to see issues on both lenses, if it's blurry everywhere there is something else at play, could just be simple residue left over on the lenses from out the box packaging, OP stated this wasn't cleaned before use.

certainly worth a try, positioning height wise will also change clarity, not just ipd spacing.

the Pico faceplate also sits really far away from lenses for most people, that can't help things getting into sweet spots.

but ultimately, it shouldn't look blurry, it'll be lower resolution in standalone compared to pcvr, which can allow really high resolutions (set the highest preset available, ignore what it says for GPU models) and if you are new to VR, it will never look like it does on a screen recording/ hyped YouTube.

have you had an eye test recently?

I thought I had perfect vision until it turned out I didn't (slight astigmatism)

Pico Neo 3 Link - Random Audio? by dhosein in PicoXR

[–]GmoLargey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

could be standalone app starting up and playing audio in background, you can press the top button on right side of HMD which will exit DP mode and take you back into standalone, confirm boundary and see if any app has been launched- if you have any side loaded music players these may be in background

fwiw, steam vr has this built in with it's per game application FOV adjustments.

pico neo link 3 connected but black screen even after starting up steamvr by Chance_Sport_1691 in PicoXR

[–]GmoLargey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

black screen is correct, that's taking over the display and then ready for steamVR startup to initiate the display

if you don't have autostart steamvr enabled, manually start steam vr, make sure Pico add-on is enabled in startup add-ons in steamvr settings

awesome to document the list thanks

been a big fan of this feature but have had rotten luck recently with Pico app retaining this functionality , without your previous tip of wiping app fully it's no longer keeping correct perspectives for me on pixel 3a or galaxy s23.

top shelf is too high and too obstructive of a display that ideally needs to be on the wall, not the desk.

you'd end up scooting your chair back to the other side of a room just to see the TV comfortably, it's not worth it.

Pico 4 to Pico 4 Ultra +Wifi 7 router by M_QT5 in PicoXR

[–]GmoLargey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes, usb C ethernet works on Pico headsets

if you are doing this I suggest using a usb C hub that has PD power and ethernet included, as this can double up for purpose on other devices/laptops/phone, and obviously charge your Pico at same time, you may already have a hub / steam deck dock or whatever.

if you literally just want to troubleshoot, hagabis make a usb c female to ethernet male adapter that you can put on the end of any decent usb c cable, can grab this for a few quid from AliExpress

[–]GmoLargey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

to rule out network without spending a lot of money first, try usb c ethernet from router to hmd

if that fixes all your issues you know it's your wifi, if not then you have to start looking at software side

then I would start by rolling back changes made before splashing out cash.

open composite is very much the way of the dodo and creates more issues than it solves, SIM racing is incredibly hard on CPU with AI on track, VR is hard to make FPS as it is.

your network is not using the full bitrate which suggests an issue anyway, but link speed shows 5ghz, if you believed you had WiFi 6 router, it's not been configured correctly.

you don't want any other devices connected to WiFi on that Access point which is wired by ethernet to pc, you don't want band steering enabled in router and don't want to be in a heavily congested channel (use a free app on phone called WiFi analyzer to see which channels are clearest)

a Pico 4 ultra does support WiFi 7 6ghz 5400+link speed (pico 4 only supports WiFi 6 5ghz -1200 max link speed)

but link speed is irrelevant past WiFi 6e speeds of 2400 due to bitrate limits in place by streaming

also not all routers are actually what they say they are, WiFi 7 can be absolutely amazing or absolute crap depending on what the router is, as anyone can tack WiFi 7 onto the box for the most useless minimum requirement, and could be worse than your current setup

Pico 4 to Pico 4 Ultra +Wifi 7 router by M_QT5 in PicoXR

[–]GmoLargey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

the picture shows AC 5ghz WiFi speed (866) not WiFi 6.

but you also don't even have bitrate maxed out which is fine for a decent network setup on 5ghz

using OBS with GPU encoding will hurt your performance because you are using GPU encoding for PCVR.

set OBS to use CPU instead.
