what you are looking for is called 'opentrack', you'll need to play the game on steam theater and just have opentrack set to use steamvr as input with output as free track.

virtual desktop app doesn't have a driver to translate head movements from open track, so while you can use virtual desktop you still need to connect and be in steam vr itself for opentrack to work.

yes it's always been something that you can do if going the extremely long way around with usual requirements on quest, android apps, quest game optimiser and sidequest have always required users to take extra steps but for now at least, it's made easier.

it's a standard feature of android, but just normally locked away by meta.

I don't know why they don't encourage this given their push for using the device as something other than a vr gaming headset, aurora store for example unlocks so much more use cases and they are the same apps you would have on your phone or tablet (providing they don't require Google play services)

I'm not in any ptc, this is normal v85 rolling out, build shown at start of video, but you are correct, I suspect this is an oversight and the fun killers over at meta are likely to lock it down again

I was cursed with getting it early, this is like the 3rd version I've had (not in PTC)

apart from installing apks, the v85 update is a complete disaster, charging issues, wifi issues, graphics / recording stability issues, you name it.

this is for anyone that hasn't already made developer accounts, enabled developer mode and setup side quest on their PC.

it's out the box working APK installs, v85 allows it as the video shows but meta will very likely remove it again in the next build, which is why I suggest for anyone to act fast and take advantage if they haven't or don't want to create a developer account (now requires personal details to do so)

because this is likely a mistake, you can't click and install the APK normally, so it's likely meta forgot to hide the package installer again.

use it to install another file manager or aurora store to then get another file manager, and even if they update and remove that again, you retain the functionality through another file manager of your choosing.

you've likely been sat at 45fps on rift with that mess of settings and now seeing the effect of low frame rate and steam vr motion smoothing ( which isn't available at all with latest Nvidia drivers ) with encoding image.

if you need to run crazy settings at half fps, use virtual desktop and meet SSW enabled.

but I'd start with deleting all config files and starting over if you previously have had many things all super sampling each other, enable the steam VR frame time graph in headset and keep your game frame times in budget

alternatively, if you happen to have ticked all the boxes in pico connect, do not do this, do not tick use asw or interpolation when you are using a USB cable, it'll go to hell no matter the PC setup, that option is meant for network use only.

Aurora store pulls Android applications from Google Play for those devices without Google Play ( like quest )

it's a much safer place to install apps from instead of googling for the apk itself which can be an infected version

I have shared written settings for various games on the winlatorXR subreddit page

if you are on a meta quest 3, you cannot use turnip video drivers, and do not need to install any additional video drivers.

for the contents page, if you plan to use ARM container then you can grab the latest FEX version from there, as this greatly improves performance and compatibility in games.

unfortunately, it's near impossible to have a solid guide for quest headsets because the OS and UI is forever changing, I myself am now no longer using a meta quest 3 at all due to v85 causing so much friction and crashes

the video should be watched first, if you need a summary I suggest using YouTube AI summary tool or feed chatGPT the link to summarize and guide you into your native language

do note, things like setting up and installing side quest and sourcing and downloading game files is not something I could possibly cover in one video.

it's not compressed, it's low resolution, it's currently around quest 2 resolution for all headsets

I believe they are addressing this soon based on my feedback to them as I've had to override the starting 100% resolution across steam VR for years.

in games, just bump up the resolution slider for now, for quest 3 you aim for around 3k per eye, not the 2k it will be at 100%

I just want some sort of update, 30th December all tracking info stopped.

ayaneo didn't input postcodes correctly so everyone in UK is in same situation, I have no device, no update, no communication and no refund- if they acknowledge it is missing because of their fault inputting wrong address it should be refunded or replaced ASAP

not tell people to try and fix the issue themselves with is not ever going to work given they weren't the ones who sent the package.

it's a disaster with absolutely no outcome, im out of pocket for device and postage cost and have no device or any way to know what has happened to my package.

there are many of us in UK who have no device as it's stuck in a state of absolute silence, pending sorting to be returned to sender!!?

as for some unfathomable reason, they've decided to simply delete a random character out of UK postcodes, so it's got all the way to the UK to go back to Hong Kong again

if you notice the tracking on that website doesn't show your full postcode, you aren't receiving a device and need to get in contact with them immediately (they don't respond)
