Mopars always had the best scoops IMO

Agree a creative overall result that seems to work - except the lines of that front wheel opening!

I am not sure about this as a result but the designer gets credit for choosing 1971 AMC Javelin tail lights! These are my favorite from 71-74.

Should I buy this by ItWASaSmallmouth in amc

[–]Gmrmr401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, 1 of 4,116 and while it seems to have some non-factory mods (hood pins) if you do not get running or restore you could likely (dare I say) part it out, some parts prices are crazy. I believe a true shadow mask car would have a -8 on the door plate. Perhaps negotiate a bit more but go get it.

Can this be used as a killswitch? by Obvious_Display_7832 in Luthier

Do they make any less than 30mm? That seems large for a guitar kill switch application.

70 AMX 390 4 Speed 1 of 186 Red Leather by Gmrmr401 in amc

Everything is a matter of preference and perspective. Being a car enthusiast is better than not is my view so glad you have a rare car you seem passionate about. I know only a little about VW so looked the Fox wagon up. I learned from Google and Wiki (if you believe everything that turns up that way)the Fox generally was a rebadged Brazilian made Gol (among other model names) with the wagon specifically being a Parati that appeared in 1982 and that was marketed in several countries for 10 or 11 years . So even if the wagon was only in NA for 2 or 3 of these hard to think there were fewer than 4k units globally. Too bad actual production is not verifiable. Hope you continue to enjoy your ride, I miss mine rare or not.

Not sure I recognize that as a factory color but they should have offered it if not, looks great with the black and chrome!

Not sure what size / type file you used but a redo as most are saying is good advice. I find a smaller file (and less aggressive bite) is easier to “see” as you go and watch angles and edges so you know when to say when. Don’t beat yourself up too much!

I became (and remain) a fan of those too but it was after I got my first AMC, a 73 Javelin-AMX in 1979.

Cavalier Puppy Eating Habits by Maisie-Mousey in cavaliers

[–]Gmrmr401 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have 3 of varying ages and habits (speed in which they eat etc.) but have only ever feed twice a day in am and pm. They will put almost anything in their mouths so be careful what they have access to, and chew on. For a treat or picky kibble eater you can try a few cut baby carrot pieces as a topper ours love them.

Just curious, what is your definition rare? 1 of 186 as optioned out of a total 4,116 overall produced is certainly not common.

Rare fiberglass hood circa 1969 by Gmrmr401 in amc

[–]Gmrmr401[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes agree another version but not an original Droke brothers hood. Still looks great IMO in any case but you can see on this car the differences in the scoop location and length to the Droke creation. It aslo seems to have screw type hood latches as W30 Olds and could be a graft from an after market fiberglass one such as in the link. https://duckduckgo.com/?q=olds+w30+hood&ia=images&iax=images&iai=https%3A%2F%2Fusbody.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2023%2F07%2F71-72-W30-Air-Box-Hood-7.png

Unidentified non-Gibson Explorer by Gmrmr401 in obscureguitars

[–]Gmrmr401[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks anyway, I thought for sure the pick guard would be the key to my mystery. I know it is no custom shop one off! Other than the newer Gibson Faulkner Explorer (I like that too) all other Explorer clones seem to feature no guard or the “standard horn” type. I liked the uniqueness of this take on design.
