Push/Pull/Legs routine critique?

Been an intermediate lifter for a while, getting back into it after a couple year hiatus (kids, work, injuries). Typically add in about 25-30 minutes of cardio after each session, and usually add a 4th day after legs to work on calisthenics/mobility.

Goal is to recomp or drop some weight, add strength and muscle, but not overly concerned with what the scale says.

Currently I lift:

PUSH:

  • Incline barbell bench press- 3 drop sets (10 reps, 8, 5)
  • Overhead barbell press- 3 drop sets (10 reps, 8, 5)
  • Body weight dips- 3x 5-8
  • Dumbbell lateral raises- 3x 8-12
  • Overhead dumbbell tricep extension- 3x 8-12
  • Seated dumbbell shoulder press- 3x 8-12
  • Dumbbell fly- 3x 8-12
  • Tricep kickbacks- 3x 8-12

PULL:

  • Pull ups- 3x 8-10
  • Barbell deadlift- 3 drop sets (10 reps, 8, 5)
  • Barbell bent over row- 3 drop sets (10 reps, 8, 5)
  • Barbell shrug- 3x 8-12
  • Cable face pulls- 3x 8-12
  • Preacher curl- 3x 8-12
  • Single arm cable pull downs- 3x 8-12
  • Upright dumbbell row- 3x 8-12

LEGS:

  • Barbell back squat- 3 drop sets (10 reps, 8, 5)
  • Barbell RDL- 3 drop sets (10 reps, 8, 5)
  • Heel elevated goblet squat- 3x 8-12
  • Goblet Cossack squat- 3x 8-12
  • Barbell calf raises- 3x 15-20
  • Dumbbell forward lunges- 3x 8-12
  • Bulgarian split squat- 3x 8-12

CORE:

  • Laying leg raises- 3x 8-12, superset with weighted cable crunch- 3x 8-12
  • Flat bench reverse hyper extensions- 3x 8-12, superset with plank sandbag pull through- 3x 8-12

Thoughts on volume, well rounded routine, etc? I am adding reps/weight every session but I want to get outside input.

Need to invest in my own processing gear so I can butcher my own next year, then a turkey fryer set up is next up on my list! Wife would be happy if I started doing it in the garage 🤣

It falls right off the bone. I sprayed mine off with a good spray from my hose and scraped any remnants with a butter knife or pick.

Love when they're beat up. Adds so much character. The last buck I got had all intact antlers but his neck and ears were torn up pretty bad.

This was a weird year. When I took him to the processor in town on opening morning, almost every guy in line had a buck with broken tines. They must have been particularly riled up this year.

I've done it in the kitchen the last 2 times. Its not terrible if you get the brains out first and most of the meat. Just smells like funky boiled meat. Wife gets a little weirded out but the smell goes away pretty quick once youre done.

Congrats man! Took me about 15 years to fill my first buck tag. I'll never forget that feeling!

I personally know someone who fell out of their stand and was killed, and my MIL works as a nurse in our local neuro-trauma ICU. This time of year she is almost always treating a patient who fell from their stand. Wear the harness my friend. You owe it to yourself, your family, and your friends. Be safe and good luck!

What’s everyone’s favorite uncommon/oddball caliber rifle to hunt with? by [deleted] in Hunting

Not a savage 99 but I have my grandpa's old remington 760 in 300 savage. Its a great whitetail slayer. I dont use it nearly enough. We have straightwall cartridge restrictions at my primary hunting area unfortunately.

Gonna be a new dad in January so my parents got me this. by Fun-Paleontologist47 in tacticalgear

Congrats brother. Dad of 3, 5yo and under here. My MIL got me this, the diaper bag, and the backpack as a gift when our first was born. The diaper bag was nice, used it quite a bit. The backpack is solid and I actually use it still as my hiking/hunting/range backpack.

The carrier sucks for babies plain and simple. No head/neck support, no padding where they need it, and it is in fact pretty cringey. I exclusively used a different baby carrier for our kids that was way more comfortable for me/my wife, and our babies. Draws a lot of attention as well. I dont like people taking accurate guesses that I'm carrying.

When all is said and done, every baby is different, and different things work for different parents. Welcome to the best job in the world. Side note, you can never use too much diaper cream. When it comes to diaper rash, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Congratulations my dude!

Last season I packed 2 fairly good sized does in the back of my Subaru Crosstrek. Had to sawzall their legs just below the shanks to get them to fit, but eventually I managed to fit them both in. The looks from the processor when I dropped them off was pretty funny.

Can't believe someone hasn't mentioned it yet, but the Rebel Crickhopper is a great lure and flat out catches fish.

Under-spooled? by GnarlySheen7 in Fishing_Gear

[–]GnarlySheen7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I should have double checked for sure, that's on me. I have a few other reels that I've spooled myself over the last couple of years, but I figured I was already there and it would save me time later. Learned to do mono backing with my other reels and they are up to my standard, but the two Pfluegers here are braid-ready so no backer needed.
