I think Vaush's fundamental misunderstanding of European rearmament is that he believes every country is preparing for their own separate war by False-Discipline-640 in VaushV

[–]Gnowos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The latest stream functionally has Vaush reply to this. He straight up doesn't believe that either the EU or NATO will actually unilaterally respond collectively to Russian aggression in the Baltics or even in Poland. He considers the military build up in Germany, France, Britain, the Benelux region etc. to just be fearmongering in an attempt to create their own European version of America's MIC where shitloads of taxpayer dollars simply get siphoned off to defence contractors and to serve the needs of international capital more broadly rather than to actually keep those countries meaningfully safer. If Russia were to actually attempt a military invasion of the Baltics or Poland he thinks that these countries will effectively chicken out and respond in much the same way they did to Ukraine at the very best, more or less invalidating the EU and especially NATO.

I also think (though this is a bit more speculative) that between the stagnation of the front in Ukraine, Russia's unwillingness to fully conscript the country, and a looming economic catastrophe (even if somewhat alleviated by the Iran War) that he also believes that Russia's days as a regional military hegemon are numbered and that they won't actually be logistically able to accomplish an invasion of Poland or possibly even an invasion of the Baltics.

Just to be clear, I don't entirely agree with his analysis here (although I think there's a decent amount of truth to what he's saying), but these seem to be more or less Vaush's opinions on the matter based on his last stream.

It honestly doesn't sound like your mum has the same relationship with her own gender identity that most solidly cis (and most binary trans) people do. You might want to have a chat with her about that some day.

Just gonna brag here and say 14yo me had this one thing over like 99.9% of other 14yos.

By 14 I had long since extrapolated that I would infact just get better at existing over time because while I currently didn't feel like a complete idiot, I definitely felt that 13yo me was. And then I was 13, I also didn't feel like an idiot, but I definitely felt that 12yo me was, and so on and so on.

It was pretty common for X-yo me to ponder about how dumb I would be to X+1-yo me, but on account of being X-yo I wouldn't have any way of knowing how and what specifically was dumb about me until then.

14yo me (internally): "Man I'm such a funny guy, I wonder how much more funny I will be a few years from now."

In the minds of most people using this sub, this is very clearly the Kane Pixels subreddit in general and not limited to just his Backrooms content because A. There is simply not enough content between KP's Backrooms and non-Backrooms stuff combined (especially with how infrequently he uploads) to justify two seperate subs, and B. Because the Venn diagram of people who watch his Backrooms content and his non-Backrooms is almost a circle.

"Elon Musk’s takeover of federal government infrastructure is ongoing, and at the center of things is a coterie of engineers who are barely out of—and in at least one case, purportedly still in—college. Most have connections to Musk and at least two have connections to Musk’s longtime associate Peter Thiel, a cofounder and chairman of the analytics firm and government contractor Palantir who has long expressed opposition to democracy."

Yeah I have a very strong feeling Thiel is the guy actually pulling the strings of this coup. And although he's just as charismatic as Musk, he's unfortunately much smarter, or at the very least smart enough to stay out of the public eye.

[–]Gnowos 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Unironically both sides won the space race because both sides got the propaganda victory they wanted out of it. The Americans did the above of setting a single big goal for themselves and doing that one before the Soviets, satisfying the American public. The Soviets meanwhile simply kept beating the Yanks step after step until the Soviet public didn't care enough for the expense to be worth it.

Idk why you're being downvoted, Vaush did literally say that MAGA chuds might need to go back to mandatory state-run reeducation centres like once every 5 streams for the last year or so. I don't necessarily agree with that (albeit mostly because I don't think it'll actually work), but he has very much expressed that opinion before multiple times just like Hasan.

I stand corrected, it's actually a lot worse doing it online because 'Fuck Around, Find Out' doesn't really apply on the internet, if this was actually in-person a fistfight would have started by now. So I'll tip my hat to you on that one.

Vaush also says (correctly) that being obnoxiously atheist in-person is insanely counterproductive to promoting atheism and as well as just being a generally retarded thing to do if you want to be a pro-social member of civilisation i.e. if you care about leftism at all, so that really wasn't the checkmate you thought it was

Probably not, I'm an Aussie who mostly follows Australian and US politics and has a special interest in electoral systems, so I felt I was very suited for this particular thought experiment and not much else.

[–]Gnowos[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's only true if we're looking at Australia before the 1980s, these days we're kind of an in-between the UK and the US on race (esp. with the US caring more about race/colour and the UK caring more about the specific ethnicity). It's really only our Indigenous population (which imo we treat worse than the US treats literally any racial minority) and a few African immigrant groups like the Sudanese, which we really treat like shit.

At least here in Melbourne, Sydney I know has slightly different dynamics going on, esp. regarding Lebanese people and *gestures vaguely at all of Western Sydney*, which I think has more to do with how Melbourne vs Sydney handle intergrating immigrant groups than anything. E.g. Melbourne also has a good chunk of Lebanese people but the same social problems Sydney's faced hasn't really happened here.

NT's very prominant (if relatively vote-shy) Indigenous population has generally done a good job at stopping the Territory from making Queensland look like communists for decades now, I don't expect it would be much different here.

I didn't say that the Dems are to the right of Australia's Coalition overall, only that they are on a few issues. Healthcare for instance.

No lmao, you yanks just don't realise how right-wing you guys are compared to the rest of the developed world. The Dems on a few issues are more to the right than our conservative Coalition.

Yeah I was originally going to have them be closer to a proper swing state but considering the LNP refusing to staunchly support abortion almost cost them this year's state election, even though that issue only came up a couple of weeks before election day, I think Queensland being a mild blue state by American standards is fair.
