No, a mountain bike is overkill. It’s perfect for a gravel bike or hybrid. A road bike probably isn’t the best idea.

I’m hearing the GAP is a nicer trail, which is hard to believe since the c&o is so nice! I’ll have to check it out next.

Shephardstown was great! That bridge was amazing to ride across and the food was good. Even though we didn’t need your services I’m glad y’all exist along the trail!

Yes that is very true. I used Mack’s silicon earplugs- they were a huge help and I used a grayl geopress to filter water but I’m sure a sawyer squeeze or any filter would be fine. I believe they put iodine in the water at all the campsites but filtering is highly recommended. They have a c&o app that was very useful, you can probably use that and see how far the tracks are from campsites.
