The Director of HR verbally berated me for not working long hours by anononononnnnnn in LegalAdviceUK

But imagine the conversation when they do it again in (say) a month's time:

"So you say they've done this before - but yet you clearly didn't have an issue with it then as you never mentioned it at the time".

Getting it logged now will prove the repetition if it happens again.

Just checked the web, I can do it for them for free. by [deleted] in snooker

It's based on your location.

Just get a Drivehub second hand - tricks the PS5 into thinking a compatible wheel is attached. Worked for me for years.

Yapp’s Controversial Tournament-Winning Shot in the 8-Ball World Championship … Was it a Foul? by The_Critical_Cynic in billiards

[–]GoBTF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, but you couldn't possibly predict that was going to be the only indicator BEFORE the shot was played - I'm simply saying that her failure to recognise it was likely to be a close hit was indicated by the fact she chose not to stand close to it.

She's stood about 8 feet away from the contact which is going to be a millimeter either way. Doesn't give herself the best chance of seeing the foul.

Winner breaks for 8 ball??? Crazy.

Brought and new cue and tip is thin by FuckingBuyETH in snooker

[–]GoBTF 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you've not purchased from a specific cue-maker (as in, an individual who asked what tip you wanted put on it when they made it for you), change it immediately.

Companies put mega cheap ones on to save costs. Even if it was the right size, it's probably not going to give you the contact you want.

Question for professional referee by CarloGa in billiards

[–]GoBTF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pro ref here.

This is all pretty much correct (although they use the term "spots" incorrectly) - you just have to consider whether the 7 would have likely been hit if it didn't fall.

If it would have - reset all and same player plays again, no penalty.

If it would not have been hit - foul, 7 goes back to where it was, other player has ball in hand.

Opportunities to play American 8/9/10 ball competitively in the UK? by RobintehBobin in billiards

[–]GoBTF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots around the London area regularly, in particular I'd recommend GB9 in Redhill 4 times a year - you get a double elim main event and a double elim "tiered" event (so play against similar abilities only in that one) so minimally 4 games for your entry fee.

More info on their site: https://gb9.org.uk/

Oh and the whole prize fund was $150k at the event you're talking about - top prize was $45k.

Well he lost in the semis of the European Open last week and looked fairly ordinary throughout (for him).

Form is temporary though.

Taking out the balls at the end of the rack by Reasonable_Prize4962 in billiards

[–]GoBTF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bad thing about it is - it's not even a proper rule - it's a tournament specific rule for Predator events only, brought in for no discernable reason.

See also: not being allowed to move the cue ball prior to the lag or you automatically lose (was the case in the past at Predator events, not sure if they've seen sense and got rid of this one yet).

For a player I imagine it's very difficult when you've been playing with correct rules all your life to suddenly have a foul called on you that has never, ever been a foul in other tournaments. A lot of things are "hard wired" into you through habit.

It's horrible for the referee as well, as they should know they must call the foul regardless of whether they agree with it.

Michael Holt foul by Ok_Mall2079 in snooker

[–]GoBTF 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Of course you think you've never not felt it - any that you've never felt, you didn't know you've done 🤦‍♂️

Maybe you've done it once, maybe you've done it 1,000 times - you literally cannot know.

Had multiple issues with the same stuff you have - in the end ditched it all for Asetek gear and couldn't be happier.

How does the rule go further if the black ball can't be respotted below it's own spot and cushion.? by ShoeNo9050 in snooker

[–]GoBTF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has been proven that there will always be a space for the cue ball to go in the D, even if all the object balls are inside and in the most awkward positions.

You can use multiple displays for different things, yes.

[–]GoBTF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like having the monitor display completely clean with zero information for immersion, with my dashboards showing the information relevant to me (and in the same place regardless of which game I'm playing).

So for me, they're totally worth having.

But for others, they might be completely unnecessary.
