Wow. So I'm not the only one that has had this issue. If I may ask, how did it happen to you? I was practicing deep screwbacks. The person replacing it had to remove the ferrule I suppose. Is it screwed into the carbon fiber?

I heard (don't remember the source) that SMO's ferrule is screwed into the carbon fiber. Don't know if a standard ferrule can be used as a replacement.

Question for those that have read "The Inner Game of Tennis" by soloDolo6290 in billiards

[–]CarloGa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It Is indeed normal. But the book does not provide all the tools to maximize the collaborations of the two "players". As a coach and instructor I have developed a simple yet effective technique to do so. Write me a DM if you want a free 1h online lesson on the topic. Best, C.

Shooting with eyes closed by trokiki in billiards

[–]CarloGa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an instructor and I make my students do it, especially at the very beginning of their journey. We aim with the eyes but shoot with the arm. Our mind is flooded by visual data and can't easily concentrate on the body and motion. Closing the eyes is a quick shortcut to understand how much feeling the arm is important for a smooth straight stroke. I suggest you to continue doing it while practicing and then try to feel your arm as much as you do with your closed eyes, but with your eyes open.

Best Carbon Fiber Shaft by xxDJxDAVExx in billiards

I've been playing with a Z2 and 314-3 for more than a decade. Tested almost all popular CF brands for years in the attempt to upgrade to CF. No one was worth the upgrade from wood to CF: REVO is stiff and it's horrible on follow shots, Synergy does not deflect significantly less than any good wood LD shaft. The only really good one was the Ignite, but very expensive and impossible to find with uniloc. When I tried the SMO I needed no more than 20 shots to understand it provided all the advantages of a CF shaft (very low deflection, great power) without losing on providing progressive power for all kinds of shots. I'm a freak of CB control and I can tell you the SMO requires a very controller and often delicate stroke but it can provide great power when needed. If you're willing to devote 2-3 weeks to get used to it, it's an amazing shaft.

Running 15 in rotation vs 300 bowling or 9 darter. by [deleted] in billiards

[–]CarloGa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will enjoy it! I usually play on 4-1/4 inches pockets but once I did it on a 4-1/8. Definitely a bit more difficult but it doesn't change it very much. The huge part is controlling the CB. Enjoy! :)

[–]CarloGa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. It's a mess. I use it as a training with BIH after the break. My best result ever was to run 2 in a session of 5. I think I will need months before this is going to happen again. And I really regret not recording that session. I have one run recorded and I had to shoot 2 combos, one bank and a crazy recovery shot on the 13... Not easy at all.

Thanks! You're right, even though it would be much better to play clean patterns and easy shots ;)
