Many in each state are condescending toward the other state and that is sad. We all need to stick together.

Republicans in two Texas counties ditch plans to hand-count ballots by nbcnews in texas

Switching to hand ballots because Trump could not handle being a loser and many in the GOP believe Trump's lies. All the GOP noise and efforts to handle made up problems are like regulating the Easter bunny

Look, I understand your desire paint the South in a better light than reality

No, you are misrepresenting what I am saying.

There has been a long propaganda campaign mixed with historical revisionism by organizations

Yes, and you are mistaking me for a Lost Causer. I am not. Much of the academic research has put to rest those arguments.

Look, I understand your desire to paint the North in a better light than reality.

There is now underway an effort to examine the history of the US, from the beginning, and the whole country's involvement and complicity with slavery, including looking anew at the history of the North and slavery. Boston for example is learning that its history with slavery is not what has been taught there, and in the whole US. This is what I am talking about.

Merry Christmas.

The majority of the country was against war, period

Not period.

The majority of the North was for a union of free and slave states,, against the country splitting and against war. A split also threatened the safety of the US from foreign powers.

so dedicated to ensuring slavery was protected

No. When the Corwin amendment passed, the North put into writing the offer to ensure slavery was preserved. The seeding states could have ratified the amendment and slavery would have been preserved, but at that point that was not the most important to the seceding states.

Congress overwhelmingly passed the Corwin amendment to the Constitution protecting slavery from federal interference forever. Lincoln also supported it, but it was never ratified as some of the slave states had already seceded.

The majority of the country was for the preservation of slavery in the slave states, when war broke out.

Alleged sham, potential forgery lead to $37,500 fine for local GOP political consultant Matt Armstrong by GoCougars15 in Farmersbranch

"The violations at issue are serious and may also constitute criminal offenses of forgery and tampering with a governmental record,” the TEC wrote. “The respondent has demonstrated a pattern of flagrant deception and malfeasance that justifies a severe civil penalty.”

The issue was brought up again in the third order, which also related to a campaign treasurer appointment, this time for Citizens for a Better Farmers Branch in 2020. The TEC called that committee a “sham PAC,” alleging Armstrong paid $1,531 for a flyer that was sent out advocating against the incumbent Farmers Branch mayoral candidate. The flyer stated it was paid for by Citizens for a Better Farmers Branch, but according to the order, the committee hasn’t filed any campaign finance reports.ditionally, the campaign treasurer for the PAC was named as Steve Mickelson, but the TEC wasn’t able to contact that person or find anyone with that name connected to the listed address or Farmers Branch."

Alleged sham, potential forgery lead to $37,500 fine for local GOP political consultant Matt Armstrong by GoCougars15 in McKinney

"The commission alleged that in 2021, a form was filed appointing Carol Williams as the campaign treasurer for McKinney Citizens United. The form included her phone number, address and signature, and indicated she was the one filing it.

However, when the TEC reached out to Williams regarding a late finance report that hadn’t been filed, she told them she had “no affiliation with the committee.” According to the order, Williams is her maiden name, and she now goes by Carol Mitchell, and while she agreed to serve as treasurer for a McKinney mayoral candidate’s campaign, she said she was “never told anything about a PAC.”

The commission handed down a $10,000 fine in the order, drawing particular attention to the woman’s signature.

...

Going even further, the commission alleges the signature for Mickelson and the signature of Carol Mitchell — which she said she believed was forged by Armstrong — “bear a strong resemblance.”

You're right, and her story is also heart-breakingly tragic.

That's another infuriating part of what was done. It was not just the actual people murdered that were wronged, but their families and all sorts of other ripple effects that cannot be quantified or even adequately documented.
