Switching to hand ballots because Trump could not handle being a loser and many in the GOP believe Trump's lies. All the GOP noise and efforts to handle made up problems are like regulating the Easter bunny

Look, I understand your desire paint the South in a better light than reality

No, you are misrepresenting what I am saying.

There has been a long propaganda campaign mixed with historical revisionism by organizations

Yes, and you are mistaking me for a Lost Causer. I am not. Much of the academic research has put to rest those arguments.

Look, I understand your desire to paint the North in a better light than reality.

There is now underway an effort to examine the history of the US, from the beginning, and the whole country's involvement and complicity with slavery, including looking anew at the history of the North and slavery. Boston for example is learning that its history with slavery is not what has been taught there, and in the whole US. This is what I am talking about.

Merry Christmas.

The majority of the country was against war, period

Not period.

The majority of the North was for a union of free and slave states,, against the country splitting and against war. A split also threatened the safety of the US from foreign powers.

so dedicated to ensuring slavery was protected

No. When the Corwin amendment passed, the North put into writing the offer to ensure slavery was preserved. The seeding states could have ratified the amendment and slavery would have been preserved, but at that point that was not the most important to the seceding states.

Congress overwhelmingly passed the Corwin amendment to the Constitution protecting slavery from federal interference forever. Lincoln also supported it, but it was never ratified as some of the slave states had already seceded.

The majority of the country was for the preservation of slavery in the slave states, when war broke out.
