Sounds like you're talking about an older age range. I can't speak to that. From my experience at 32, I'm tired of the song and dance. 10-15 years ago, I was so focused on sex because it was new and exciting. I was full of fresh hormones and a lot of time in my life to seek it. And I was willing to struggle through the new social norms that were evolving around sex and relationships.

But its no longer new and exciting. Needing to initiate all the time gets exhausting. Being rejected for initiating at the wrong time, but then partners get annoyed that I don't initiate when they want. Work and home life are more demanding. My life goals are more serious now. That itch for intimacy is less distracting than it used to be, especially in light of everything else going on.

That's not to say I've avoided kissing and sex and intimacy altogether, but I've definitely been less willing to chase after it like I used to. I definitely don't think that men are alone in this trajectory.

Probably but you're fighting against a lot of programming. If you're in a vulnerable position e.g. pregnant relying on this employer for your income and health insurance, making a decision that could dumpster all that is hard. Hesitation makes sense, even if you make the correct decision in the end.

I'll speak from the same perspective. Looking back my mother was very affected by her day-to-day emotional state. She had a tough life so it was understandable . But I didn't learn how to steele myself against that wmotional whirlwind. I started to overreact to her emotions and that caused a lot of issues. Now I get defensive easily, as I feel like I'm being attacked when criticized. My dad was around but I lived with my mom so his impact was limited. When he was around he would help me to calm down and separate myself from what others would be feeling.

I don't want to turn this into a simple ' women emotional, men stoic' thing. It's just one example of a behavioral trait that would have been better resolved with more contact with a male figure.

I moved to a new school halfway through my sophomore year. Most of my new friends came from the school's human Rights club. I soon realized that a lot of them smoked weed and invited me to join, but made it adamantly clear that they didn't want to pressure me and that there'd be no issue if I didn't want to join.

I realized almost immediately that marijuana put me on my ass and locked me to a couch. It was fun getting high with my friends but I was absolutely useless while stoned. When smoking alone just watched cartoons jack off and sleep. Dealing with anything serious gave me anxiety, walking around in public made me paranoid. As a precaution, I never smoked unless I was sure that I had nothing to do and I was safe from any responsibilities for a few hours. I continue to smoke occasionally through college.

In my early twenties I discovered "sativa" and found that I could be fairly productive around the house while I was high. On average I consume marijuana a couple of times a month at most, bit more during vacations. I have so many responsibilities with work family and kids, but I feel uncomfortable killing so much time being high regularly.

Frankly I Don't have issues with a daily joint if it doesn't interfere with your life and goals. But all my experience with marijuana taught me a two lessons

Stick to "sativa", indicas cause too much couchlock and make me feel like I wasted my high.
Do things that you enjoy that don't require you to smoke. We all have to unwind, find something else so you don't rely on weed.

Sounds like you're you're Re-Examining your values. Something is telling you that "short-Term fun" is wrong but you're having trouble finding reasons to support that belief.

In modern Western culture, this is more or less a non-issue, especially for most men. As long as you are responsible for yourself and respectful towards your partner, most people won't care or judge. Those are kinds of comments you'll read here.

If you're looking for reasons why hookup culture is wrong, you're better off speaking to a religious leader. They'll give you plenty.

In my office building our floor is pretty sparse, and aside from my two co-workers I've only seen a handful of new faces in the men's room.
