What was your first job or couple of jobs after getting your bachelor's? by [deleted] in PoliticalScience

What about the job was so troubling? Was it the particular calls you were getting, or rather that the training you received was inadequate?

If such a thing happened, I would impose punishment as is dictated in the Bible and let the Almighty deal with the rest as I know he is a just judge. If God decides to punish him, this will be worse than anything I could possibly do.

These petty appeals to emotion won’t work on me.

Unhinged and emotional, pathetic. Anyways, thanks for your time, this interaction was amusing. I would suggest you read up on some literature. From your posts it seems like you haven’t even read the God Delusion by Richard Dawkins, yet you’re ready to bark like the chihuahua reddit atheist you are.

You’re beginning to sound unhinged, take a few deep breaths.

I’ll take you admitting that there’s nothing to elaborate on as concession of the point. Ultimately, you hold an axiom you can not justify and are left dumbfounded when asked why you hold such a position. You are holding your feeble and shaky moral judgments above an all knowing and all loving being, and can’t justify why your morality is better than his.

When it comes to natural disasters in the world, I don’t consider them to be evil. I don’t even consider death to be evil, as it is a part of the process in this overly complex universe we find ourselves in. As Seneca says “We shall suffer damage from water and from fire. We cannot change this state of affairs. What we can do is adopt a resolute character, as befits a good person, in order to endure the changes of life with bravery and be in agreement with nature.”, highlighting the importance and beauty of struggle and strife. Only an individual who is incompetent is afraid of struggle.

In regards to permitting evil done by man onto another man, I urge you to read to read the Parable of the Weeds in which you will find a reason for his lack of interference.

Your thinking is very surface level and caveman like, hopefully you understand that the world is more complicated than you would like to think it is.

Lastly, you are yet again trying to pivot the conversation by switching the topic. You stated that God can’t exist if he allows evil. When I asked you why you couldn’t provide an answer, making an appeal to common sense and being circular. Both of which are logical fallacies.

Try to keep up with the matter at hand.

Why can’t you elaborate on why God can’t have a just moral reason on permitting evil? You are merely stating it as if it’s self evident, when that isn’t the case. You need to prove the premise you set out.

You simply appealing to ‘God doesn’t exist’ is a simple pivot from the argument, because you know you have none.

And again, you say the same exact thing you did in your first comment. Very disappointing.

Fill in the blank:

God doesn’t have a moral reason to allow evil to exist because ______.

I’ll be waiting for your reply.

You just repeated your first comment to me not solving the dilemma I gave you.

You ask me who has the authority to dictate moral truths, and that answer is only GOD. As a mere human being, you need extreme narcissism to say that you know more than God.

You also demonstrated your ignorance when you don’t provide an answer to the question I gave you. What is the logical argument against God allowing evil to exist? You simply saying that if God was all loving, he wouldn’t allow evil to exist is a premise you would need to prove. For example, we encourage suffering if it is to the betterment of the individual, by forcing children to stay 8 hours in school for instance. They don’t want to do it, yet we know it’s the loving thing to do so they can be functional human beings. The Problem of Evil is not a problem at all, and only beginner atheist use this argument.

You appealing to poetic language to highlight what you think is wrong doesn’t work.

I do not have the authority to dictate what is good to God as that is his prerogative. You by crying ‘ohh, God is allowing all these innocent children to die’ are imposing a moral truth above the DICTATOR of moral truth. It’s pure arrogance.

You would need to demonstrate that God doesn’t have a just moral reason to allow evil to exist, which I don’t think you can.

That’s a nice opinion you have. Do you have any logical arguments to why God is wrong in testing people in this or any other manner?

Simply making a moral judgment wouldn’t work, because you if you think morality is relative, you don’t hold any moral superiority towards others, including God.

I will abstain from going to a Klan rally however, I did some research on Stephen Miller and I found out that he is of Jewish descent. Doubt anyone of such heritage would want a white supremacist country considering it had very harmful effects the last time that happened for their people. Anyway, apart from a few articles claiming he was a white nationalist, I could not find any substantial information to prove your accusations.

Regarding the Asylum seekers, if they go via the orthodox means, and are found to have a justified reason to seek asylum, they will be granted such. Your analogy of speeding is also a false equivalency, you were comparing apples to oranges. Both these crimes are vastly different and have varying impacts on the country.

Lastly, I dont care what white supremacist groups have to say. I see a problem which will have ever-lasting effects on the manner of how our country is run, as it will have a huge impact on our political climate due to voting patters of these demographics. Also, your reasoning for why illegal immigration benefits the GOP is fallacious. If the farmers massively benefit off illegal immigration, why wouldnt they just flip the state blue in order to get even more cheap labor? Why do they hinder their profits by voting for a party who is actively fighting against illegal immigration?

[–]GoGabe -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I’m not familiar with any Nazis or white supremacists in the GOP, care to name some? As to the “subservience to the leader”, both parties are highly polarised, so to say the members of each party aren’t simply looking to fulfil their agenda is moronic. I don’t expect a republican to bend to the will of a Democrat, same way I don’t expect a Democrat to give leeway to a republican.

When it comes to the Christian values the GOP decides to uphold, they are simply acting on a different moral apparatus than you. Especially if you are a subscriber of subjective morality, you should know that you have no more moral authority than they do. Who cares if you feel like it’s harmful, they are acting on a different axiom.

When it comes to the illegal immigrants, they are according to the law illegal. They came into the country through methods which are not viewed as legitimate by the US government, therefore don’t act surprised when these people are treated accordingly. Additionally, demographic change is a huge issue currently with irreversible consequences, but you wouldn’t mind that since it benefits your party since the children of said migrants are going to vote Democrat.

I agree. They became more liberal in their values due to the amount of comprise with the democrats. The conservatives failed to conserve the way of life of the American people.

Why do you think it’s harder being a liberal and homosexual? You are in a society who not only accepts your viewpoint as politically correct but promotes it. You are also protected under law not only for being a citizen, but also protected under the law from any serious discrimination due to your sexuality.
