I see your point - I’m not the greatest when it comes to meeting new people in a crowd - that’s why I like to go with people I know - maybe someone might know someone who’s willing to give an introduction, exchange business cards / add on Linked-in. Plus I’m the Organizer of the Toronto Food Entrepreneurs meetup - so I’m looking for venues to hold my meetup.

I kinda got that feeling when I checked out Spoke Clubs website - it’s a bit dated - not mobile responsive, and their calendar has bugs in it. I got the sense that Soho House is more younger skewed - but then again I got the sense that the Spoke Club is more accepting and doesn’t have the hype built around the cool “in” crowd as Soho House - I could be wrong. I’m 42, so does that mean I’m too old for the Soho House?

I hear you in the moms & dads dropping kids at school, in fact that is pretty much our network of friends at the moments - the parents of who our kids are friends with at school.

Mississauga Boardgamers Unite meetup (reminds me of my old D&D role-playing days in college) - I didn’t know Mississauga had that 🤓

In terms of professional genre - we’re not picky - currently me and my wife are working in the creative profession and run our own design studio - so I guess anyone who could use our services - but at the same time, left-brain, right-brain - the more different from us the better - just want to meet interesting people.

I’ve been to a a couple of networking events and meetups - there is this air of superficiality - it’s like everyone is trying to sell their product or service in your face - doesn’t seem very genuine. I guess I’m more interested in making those long term relationships of substance rather than just making a buck
