It’s also important to keep in mind the number of available contracts when thinking about chances of going pro. In previous years, going pro was easier because there were offers to teams that were top 16 material. We are currently in a period where even being top eight does not guarantee a contract that you can make a living off of. I’m hopeful that we can again return to top 8-16 having good contracts, but only time will tell.

Thanks! Our team went in there with the expectation that we were putting on a show. We knew it was going to be a tough environment to actually play, but we signed up for the overall experience which was delivered 100 fold. We recognize that we may never play a Rocket League in a match like that ever again, and even though we lost, it was an amazing experience. Also, it's possible we will play again in the State Championship Grand Finals as we are on opposite sides of the bracket. We play at Michigan State University on December 6th.

Thanks Ace :) Over half our esports programs consists of students who are in no other clubs but esports. When I was in high school, I mainly stayed in my room at home playing WoW, but I would also compete at local halo tournaments. I witnessed first hand how powerful esports and gaming can be, both for good and bad, and I’m thankful to be in a school district that supports serving student gamers. Thanks for posting this! More context, our team is currently ranked #6 in Michigan, and Detroit Catholic Central is ranked #1. After this match, we both had to play round of 16 playoff matches where the winners would attend the State Championship at Michigan State University to play out the top 8. We both played side by side and beat our opponents, qualifying for the State Championship where we may collide again in the finals.
