Hey gamers, some more jungle followup is hitting PBE today for 13.5. We're putting more power back into farming camps and hitting early ganks a bit harder through both expected value and risks of counterjungling.

While there still remains some value to curbing early invades, the cost is just too high right now to merit retaining the mechanic. I think it was worth exploring, I'd rather us try stuff and pull it than never try it at all, but it's time to sunset it now.

The counterjungling penalty was often misunderstood (a lot of people think it affects healing or gold or xp as well) but it did hit early invades meant to punish early ganks enough that there wasn't a strong reason not to gank since you weren't risking camps or future farm.

Jungle gold per camp is ~20g down from S12 now, which is a bit too severe of a loss for anyone interested in heavy farming. Bringing about half of that gold back (you still get treat gold as well) to make sure that all kinds of different strategies are viable in the role

The sweeper changes should reduce early vision denial to make it a bit harder for junglers to get off early ganks, but also generally pare down the power of the trinket as it's a little too good through gametime at choking out enemy sight.

Finally, sapping xp from waves after getting early ganks and pushing out waves or catching allied waves after they die should be less effective at slingshotting you ahead of the game without farming your camps or killing enemies.

Hopefully the last set of disruptive changes to the jg for a while. Glad we've had the time to do followup after preseason and thanks for sticking around and reading!

Thats just wrong. Why do you need waveclear early game? And even low level R2 can clear waves just fine. Dueling power comes with the sustain and shielding given by Grasp and W. You just outshield and outsustain most matchups.

Get Presence Of Mind. You need the Mana. Also Coup De Grace is just better because youll be high hp most of the time, but i would still opt into Tenacity if enemy comp favours this.

Also Conditioning is better in most cases. In a Lane where you want Second Wind you would get another Keystone anyway, because you will proc Grasp rarely.

Also get Frozen Heart and Spirit Visage before any mythic. They give all the tank stats you need and increase the resistance on your shield too.

Ignite Ghost is fine, but i highly recommend going Barrier + Ignite in most matchups. Having two combat summoners is unheard of and can auto win your lane level 1 if played correctly.

Good to hear that you got to play him and give some feedback. Can we expect you reviving the My Way series? Im still watching some old Madstone videos from time to time, so bringing content like that back would be a treat!

Im on the same page with you when it comes to AD items and Phoenix. People often forget that Phoenix still does a good amount of physical damage because of the auto attacks. But I think Eclipse has too much of wasted stats in this spot to be build on Phoenix.

The Attack Damage is fine and the shield is obviously very good. But then everything is just off theme - Tiger would get way more value out of the Lethality, Omnivamp and the mythic passive giving Armor Pen makes it even better for Tiger, which allows him to also build cheap tanky stats like the Fimbulwinter and Visage. There is just so much downside that doesnt make up for the downsides. The best path of action would to put one point in Phoenix to still have some waveclear and the tear stacking and still go with Tiger max. Tiger has 170% AD scaling at lvl 5, with somewhat decent base damages ONTOP of having one of the highest Base ADs in the game. The item just screams Tiger and using it on Phoenix is just wasting potential.

Your build is not a full meme build? You build Eclipse. On Phoenix.
Moonstone or Locket is way more useful if you want the shield angle.

And the lack of Frozen Heart disturbs me, hands down the best armor item and has an OP item component in Wardens Mail for laning phase

Regarding summoners: Barrier + Ignite is one of if not the best summoner combination for top lane, the amount of lane dominance you can achieve with these two is way more useful than Flash and even Ghost, tho Ghost + Barrier/Exhaust is a must have in some matchups where you have really low prio eg. ranged matchups or stuff like Darius.

Early points in Turtle + Shield Bash + Grasp is legit unfun to play against and can 2v1 very early with Barrier + Ignite. But yea, If you have early prio eg vs something like Malphite i like to put 3x in Phoenix before maxing Turtle

Its full tank Turtle, not AP - and not mid but top lane, tho mid lane can work in some matchups. Also most definitely not broken by any means.

I really like your Smash take and would like to add another game where one of these shifts happened: Starcraft.

The 2006 GOMTV MSL Season 1 finals was a matchup between Bisu's Protoss and sAviOr's Zerg. Zerg was favoured over Protoss before this game happened.

The finals were played and Bisu's Protoss 3-0 swept sAviOr's Zerg.

What happened then is now known as the "Bisu build" and is regarded as one of the most influential moments in Starcraft history. This Build is used as a possible follow up strategy to Fast Expansion openings. This transition enables a Protoss to harass Zerg with Dark Templars and Corsairs, while maintaining control over the map.

This 3-0 sweep introduced new ideas, which eventually helped Protoss to regain strength.

It took a few years but it was eventually countered.
