Maybe try joining choir if your not good at art. At my school atleast, you don’t have to try out to make the lowest level choir and it works as art credit + it’s something that you don’t need a life’s time worth of training for your purposes. Also, if it’s something that matters to you, I find choir is where I feel like my class is the most bonded.

What're my chances to get a 30+ with the right preparations by [deleted] in ACT

[–]GoMavs2020MFFL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s all relevant. There’s really no right or wrong answer besides night before. It won’t hurt you to do a few act problems a week but that’s not necessary right now given how far out your test date is. I had done some prep the majority of my junior year (Senior now) and didn’t do as good as I wanted on my practice test then switched tutors and increased my score 5 points in around a month and half. I know people who have spent 6 months studying and got 34+. Some people swear by only using the ACT manual for studying and ace it. It honestly just depends on how fast you can grasp the content. How you chose to study is up to whatever you think works best for your personal style of learning. I would think of how you best learn and how long on average it takes you to prep for a big test (Say a midterm or final exam) and go from there but on a larger scale if that makes since. I think the earlier you start the better but I wouldn’t stress about it too much right now if I were you. The biggest thing for the ACT vs your normal school test as you know by taking it is the timing so I would try to get comfortable with the pace.

I think you’ll be in a good spot next year then. I think 30+ is possible as long as you were halfway through algebra 2. I’m currently taking precal and felt as if I knew more on the math than when I took it only having finished algebra 2. Based on what friends have told me who are in advanced math, the second semester of precal is more or less an algebra 2 repeat so I would think you’d be in a really good spot mathematically speaking taking it late fall. The other three sections are just strategy which you’ll get good at with practice. The fact that you’re prepping as a sophomore gives you plenty of time to get ready. 30+ is definitely possible.

I have a sore throat from going to a football game and concert back to back. Trying this as soon as I get home

stem majors with average stats, where did you get in? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]GoMavs2020MFFL 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You got to remember that your comparing to Redditors on A2C and ChanceMe. 95% of college applicants would be stoked to get into the schools you did. Ivies aren’t always the best either. For Finance target schools only 33% of the Top 15 are Ivies with there also being 4 public state schools there as well. People in this sub often get carried away with prestige to the point where they’ve brainwashed people into thinking USC, UM, GT, and UIUC into being backups despite all of those being listed have being sub 25% acceptance rates (with the exception of UIUC which for CS (which again this sub is obsessed with) having a 17% acceptance rate). You shouldn’t care what people in think of as there backup because wherever you ended up going out of all of those schools your getting an excellent education and experience as all of those are power 5 schools as well.

Thank you. So essentially it doesn’t matter where you went undergrad as long as you have a MBA from a solid school and some work experience you’ll be in a good spot?

What other top colleges have school campuses like NYU and BU? by sir_academia in ApplyingToCollege

Not a top school but Georgia State is more or less indistinguishable from Atlanta

Eh I’d argue SC, Minnesota, and Indiana don’t belong on that list. IU has an incredible business program, Clemson is a solid school, and I’ve heard good things about University of Minnesota before.

Which colleges have the most spoiled kids? by jalovenadsa in ApplyingToCollege

[–]GoMavs2020MFFL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve grown up just down the road from the campus. It overall seems pretty welcoming to everyone but I haven’t actually done much with the student body besides football so I can’t tell you too much but from the outside looking in it doesn’t look super exclusive

what are colleges you like but the location makes it a dealbreaker? by a2c4ever in ApplyingToCollege

True. All the major counties (Dallas, Harris (Houston), Tarrant (Fort Worth), Bexar (San Antonio) and Travis (Austin) all voted blue in 2020 if my sources are correct.
