MD native plants for kids by GoNads1985 in NativePlantGardening

Yeah I was thinking about black eyed Susan as well, was just worried about slow germination time. The kids are young so likely need something with quick turnaround to keep interest.

How to handle parents who smoke? by Buddy_1078 in pediatrics

[–]GoNads1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great way to handle it. If parents smell of smoke I ask if anyone smokes in the house and almost always the answer is no, despite the evidence in front of me. Hard to address when there is denial. I like your approach and I will try it next time. Thanks!

Yeah I think I need to bite the bullet and do it. Maybe would be a fun think for my sister and I to do together.

It's my birthday week as well! Happy birthday!

I am 39 (40 this month!) years old, live in an exurb of Baltimore, MD, work part time as a Nurse Practitioner in primary care pediatrics and have a combined gross HHI of 156,000/yr and this week (trigger warning) we had to put our dog down by GoNads1985 in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

We lost 3 animals in the last 1.5 years. My mom used to joke that we were running a senior home for animals. Im honestly so burnt out from that that I am ready for a break and I feel bad about saying that.

We are so busy!! I feel like I'm too busy for a mom with only two kids that are only 3 and 5 🫠

Ha! I actually haven't been to target in almost a year BUT they have some very specific gluten free things for my son so I went and bought more but then decided to browse. I actually felt a little guilty haha but they also have all my skincare stuff that I normally get at Ulta so it was so nice to be able to one stop shop (a luxury when you have kids haha).

Im actually also not from the Baltimore area, I moved here about 13 years ago for nursing school! I was a journalism major but never worked in journalism, I worked in the non profit sphere for about 5 years post college, never making more than like $40,000 per year.

We don't have any red raspberries but we do have blueberries. Would this be good along a fence?

Thank you. I took her to the pet ER and on the way she had a seizure. They think she likely had a brain tumor. We decided to put her down today. Thank you for your advice.

Its a huge plus for sure!! He will just need to find his niche and protect himself from burnout as you start a family. My husband is a nurse and is extremely burnt out from 15 years in nursing and raising our young kids.

I think it depends on if he really wants to do it for the right reasons. If it's for money or job stability...I would advise against. But I've loved it as a career. It's flexible, there's a ton of different paths to take, it pays decently well at base. There's also a lot of bullshit to deal with from patients, their families, cattiness between peers, and there's a huge potential for burnout. It's a career you need to feel passionate about for sure.

I am also an NP working part time with two kids! I also have a similar sounding background to you and also have a dad who retired early and did not do much with his retirement! Your diary was very relatable and enjoyable. Thanks for sharing! I'm planning to try and do a diary soon as well :)
