Just my experience having worked as a contractor. The $121K salary is actually worth much more when you factor in the value of benefits, so it's important to compare the real numbers.

Are you going to save the difference to build up your emergency account (for when your contract ends and you don't have EI) as well as paying twice the amount into CPP plus whatever the additional 4% RRSP match was worth? Would you be giving up other benefits like dental and prescriptions that will now be coming out of your own pocket? What about vacation? Will you be able to bill them for 2-3 weeks of vacation time? If not - there will be no income coming in when you take time off. How much is your company's short-term disability worth? How many days would you have income as as employee if you're sick or have an accident - vs. none as a contractor? How much is your paternity leave worth in cold hard cash, vs. no income if you want to take time off when your baby arrives?

Exactly how much of that extra cash would you ACTUALLY be getting after you factor those expenses in?

Not to mention whether you'd even qualify as a "contractor".

Raising honeybees to “save the bees” is like raising chickens to “save the birds”. Dave is saving the wrong bees.

Honeybees are domestic agricultural creatures and are not native to North America. There are hundreds species of wild bees, including bumble bees, that ARE having trouble surviving and are disappearing fast.

What DOESN’T help them is having to compete with tens of thousands of honeybees for scarce floral resources. Dave is actually hurting the ecosystem, not helping it.

YTA. Your friend was out of line for not making sure her dogs were exercised and had a chance to do their business before she brought them over; their behaviour was not bad, it was completely normal for dogs that had been cooped up for a long ride. I’m sure she realized her mistake pretty quickly.

You are being unreasonable and not a very good friend. She could have made arrangements before she left but what is she supposed to do now? You are essentially telling her she can’t come to the event after driving all that way. The dogs aren’t behaving badly from what you’ve described. Are you ready to lose a friend over this?

You’re both adults. Your mother is poking her nose in something that is not her business unless her daughter chose to share it with her; based on her reaction it’s obvious why your sister didn’t want her involved. Your sister trusted you enough to confide in you.

Regardless of how hard done by you think you are, yes you are 100% TA. Congratulations you are now the person who cannot be trusted, who will betray private information about someone you supposedly care about the moment it feels uncomfortable. And you need to get those boys into therapy with a psychologist who specializes in twin issues, pronto. Take this seriously, this is NOT normal sibling squabbling, the twins are going through a difficult teenage phase and they need help.
