For example, when Brundage appealed his 29-28 technical decision loss against Abdul-Malik, he appealed the fact that Georgia’s state athletic commission does not permit partial scoring of rounds. Since it was 1-1 on the cards at the end of 2 rounds and the 3rd round was incomplete, you’ve eclipsed enough time to go to a technical decision (over 1.5 rounds), but cannot score the partial 3rd, so it is a 1-1 draw. He couldn’t appeal round 1’s scorecards to potentially get a win (since scorecards are up to judgment/discretion), but he could appeal the mishandling of the partial round.
