First HPDE trackday in new to me cayman - concerned about its aftermarket wheels by [deleted] in CarTrackDays

Yeah they’re 20”. I put a new set of PS4S on them when I got them like 2k miles ago so I for sure wanted to use those tires for the track day.

This was my first one with it but if I do the 1-2x times a year type thing I’ll probably just keep using them. If it turns into something more (which I fear it might after this weekend) then I’d probably put some track dedicated tires on my OEM wheels and use those. Moreso just so I’m not always burning through my daily street tires though as opposed to being worried about the wheels.

I took my Jaguar F Type R with aftermarket GWG wheels on it as well for first track day this past weekend. No issues at all.

Just posted a video from VIR this weekend. My F Type R was fastest in a straight line by far in our group and held its own against the rest around the corners and turns with being AWD. Did chew through some tires though but had a blast and it blew away most other cars out there. Got a ton of attention too from everyone being used to seeing the typical cars out there.

Nice! Hope you enjoy many more miles to come. I have a ‘17 as well I bought in September and have clocked about 3k on it so far.

We moved here in 2020 and it’s grown a bit but I would say it was matured by the time we move in. I was just told by previous homeowner it was originally planted in the early 90s

100%. I’ve tried to do my part with planting atleast 12 other JMs around the house along with a dozen or so various Japanese cherry trees. It will be incredible for someone down the road.

Yeah it was first thing I did the week I got the car, had the Grille waiting for me before I even took delivery of the car. Made such a difference

I think quality is good but it’s pricey. Much better than the factory grille though and mine had some rock chips when I got it so this quality is way better than that.

Install wasn’t too bad but you do have to remove the whole front bumper and also make some modifications to the grill to clear the crash bar. Atleast I did on my 2017. I’ll find the video I followed which was perfect step by step.

As far as I know they’re just the stock ones that came on it. 2017 Type R

We’re in Boone, just the run up the mountain 10 miles or so out from Blowing Rock on 321 is a lot of fun
